I said something on another group about hbot not being good if you are

mercury toxic and everyone kind of jumped in and disagreed with me and

someone posted this link.

That's a group you don't want to continue to be a member of. Sadly some lists

are not receptive to learning. Too many kids have had disastrous results with

HBOT. Be glad you know better.

The hard part with them providing some study to refer you to, is these usually

do not reflect actual experience and accounts from parents who have put their

kid in an HBOT chamber.

I'm not saying it hasn't helped some children...I'm saying it's hurt some

children. It's caused seizure disorders to develop in some. And you don't know

which kid you are going to have or when something like this will happen. They

might do fine for 3 sessions or 30 session, and then one day....they aren't

fine.

Andy has posts about this on Onibasu where he explains in more detail the

problem with using HBOT.

It's a gamble that does not need to be taken. Not when we can use vinpocetine to

increase oxygen in the brain. And use safe chelation.

And what happens when these parents discontinue this therapy? Do the kids return

to their original state? Where as with chelation they stay fixed.

Who funded the study? We don't know, it doesn't say.

Nobody mentions why people dropped out either.

Yeah, if they don't want to listen..I wouldn't waste a lot of breath trying to

convince them.

Research it for yourself. Loyalty to one protocol or another seems to get in

the way of individual common sense and blanket statements are made touting or

discrediting the competing philosophies.

HBOT has improved the cognition of children with inflammatory disorders of the

brain. What discourages me from using it is the very high cost. Really have to

do your research to find which modality renders the best results for your

child/your own situation. Thiamine improves cellular respiration and is a

significant supplement to investigate since gut damage impedes its absorption.

We've had decent (no wow factor) results with vinpocetine. Anything that

reduces inflammation in the body is beneficial. Turmeric (curcumin), with black

pepper (piperine) to boost bioavailability, has worked well for us.

Dig deep and you'll find several helpful things. I do know of one child, not my

own, who has had very good results with HBOT in addition to a multitude of other

Lyme's targeting supplements. His mother has done her homework. In fact, she

got her PhD in naturopathy and her son has reaped the benefits from her tireless

efforts.

Rash decisions that can affect long term health are to be avoided. Just because

you see a post that seems tempting doesn't mean that you should immediately jump

on it. Slow down and do your homework.

Obviously you're one of the excellent parents in this world who cares deeply

about your children. Many wouldn't spend the time, effort, and money it takes

to recover a child from autism. My time is short so if statements seem dry or

abrupt, it's because I've got to get these kids up and ready for school in five

minutes :).
