Guest guest
Hello Everyone, I would really appreciate some advice for my 9 y.o. with moderate autism. He has been on gfcf diet since he was 3 and I am ready to chelate but some recent issues has come up that only seem to be getting worse and I'm not sure what to do. He is verbal and his communication is becoming more clear every week. I have tried a number of supplements over the years including CLO and B6. He usually has good results with the B6-he seems more focused. CLO really helps his reasoning , communication etc but I've noticed him becoming more oppositional the last few months within a day of giving it to him. I use lemon flavored Carlson's and I give him 1 tsp a day about 3 or 4 days a week. Has anyone else had this result with CLO? The issues I'm most concerned about started about 4 months ago-let me say they began right after week visit with non-custodial parent who let him eat all kinds of foods that are not gfcf. He did give enzymes but I think our son's system could not handle it. The first thing I noticed was wetting the bed at night (which he rarely does). The problem then extended to daytime wetting and has been happening ever since. I took him to the doctor to rule out a UTI-he was clear. The doctor did an x-ray of his lower abdomen to make sure he did not swallow anything. From what I've read on this group it sounds like yeast. He has had yeast issues in the past with giggling, laughing inappropriately, excessive spitting. I tried GSE which would usually work when he's spitting but it didn't seem to touch it. I then tried Oil of Oregano-about 2 drops once a day, didn't seem to make a difference. Gave him this for about a month. Also started biotin about 5mg a day. No real difference. He then started throwing up especially at school after lunch. Thought it was from eating too fast etc., etc. but then I noticed the throwing up started after I started the Oil of Oregano-could it be too strong for him? Anyone else had this issue? In the last several weeks my sweet guy who is rarely aggressive has started hitting, pinching, pushing/shoving adults and children. He's never angry-almost always laughing/giggling. Almost like he's high on something (yeast?) The acts of aggression are really concerning me as I cannot leave him at church or other places where children are playing. I would appreciate any feedback-I haven't tried probiotics yet. I've stopped all yeast treatment for now-to stop the vomiting. I am taking him back to the pediatrician today (who also has a child with autism). I'm thinking he may recommend meds what do you all think? Thanks and sorry so long.
