I am well acquanted with YAWNING. For years I have

suffered from aching eyes and in the last 17 & 1/2 years

EXTREME facial pressure. All I can do is YAWN when

I'm like that. Extremely spacey and out to lunch.

Bump into things, drop things. Notice barometric

pressure changes (ever so slight) and elevation

changes. Do you have notice any facial pressure with

it? Very frustrating to say the least. Hugs, Carol B

I too don't yawn much but then again, I never really did. I notice if

I'm tired from actual exhaustion and exertion, I will yawn. But for

the most part, no yawning for me either.

I get yawning fits, and usually feel embarrassed, because I'm not wanting to

look bored, and I'm not bored at all. When I notice it, I tell people it's

the darn Still's. All of my friends know I've never been a dynamo of energy

and I think all of them accept that in me, especially my family is good now,

as only mom used to mention how sick I was as a baby, but now the whole

family remembers and knows. I have absolutely no trouble at all being sick

anymore, save that I would like to log some forests. Wait, the forests

would prefer I sit on my butt as I do!

Yup, I have yawning sprees.

Quinpirole, not saying that it is that - which I'm sure it isn't BUT LOOK at

what quinpirole affects, it's a dopamine receptor (D2) agonist. Is there also a

migraine? Maybe feverfew would help????

Reflex? Antidepressants? Or (no offens intended to anyone), but maybe trying to

either say she/he is tired and please go home? Or maybe the person *is* tired?

Hi and thanks for responding.

I have often wondered about dopamine...have fibromyalgia and a few other related

issues...and dopamine is supposed to be an issue...but have read some scarey

stuff about it..is there an inexpensive test?

My husband just found out that he has some heart issues and lost a bunch of

money on a job again...so money is squeaky tight. Have a daughter doing this

too.

Thanks

I really have no idea. Just sitting here thinking about this...yawning is an

act of empathy, right? You know how people with autism are generally

non-empathetic? Maybe not having empathy and having too much empathy are two

sides of the same coin having to do with dopamine? Odd thought, but I have had

the same thoughts about obsessive compulsive disorder being the opposite of

having irrational fear. My son has actually flip flopped between being

extremely obsessed with water to being very fearful of it. I assume there has

to be a balance in order to normalize the symptoms.

Maybe that is good reason for you to do some more research on what natural

things affect dopamine receptors and perhaps do some trial and error to see if

you can get anywhere with the symptoms.

Is it you that is yawning or a " family member " ?

Could be a sensory dysfunction related to visual input.

My daughter falls asleep and snores two minutes after riding in the car,

especially if a sunny day. Shehas sensory integration disorder.

Fibromyalgia and Rheumatoid Arthritis do cause fatigue, but yawning as a sole

symptom is doubtful.

Here are a few links to help:

http://www.medhelp.org/adamcontent/yawning-excessive

http://www.howstuffworks.com/question572.htm (it has a page 2)

If you are yawning *that* much, then I would suggest getting some labwork done

to test your level of carbon dioxide.

I yawn a lot (not as much as your family member, Ronni), to the point that

clients ask if I get enough sleep. I suspect poor oxygenation. The doctor's

office ran a test (oximeter on my finger, then had me walk fast laps around the

halls of the clinic and repeated the oximeter) and seemed to think that wasn't

the case but I'm not convinced. I also get short of breath when exercising. I

also know that I don't breathe deeply enough.

Thanks for posting. I guess the next question is how do we increase the

oxygenation in our bodies. I take TOCOQ10 and hawtorn to help but evidently not

enough.

Thanks

I am new to this group, but I had to pipe in about the exact opposite.  My

daughter doesn't yawn. We did three rounds of IV chelation, but are switching

to oral, and since then she half yawns. Any thoughts??

Oxygenation is an issue for most our kids. To increase my son's general

coordination and oxygen/blood flow to the brain, I make him walk at a brisk

speed or even run on the treadmill 8-10 mins/day (he is 5 yo.... I have been

doing this for 4 mos now and one can see, that after his " workout " he is not

only calmed and drained that excessive energy, sleeps better, but also that he

has better fine motor skills! Coincidence? I don't think so.

Exercise is a plus for everyone, pls do advice your relative to exercise even if

it is only 10mins, I believe the yawning episodes will lessen alone from

increased oxygen intake and endorphine production.

" I guess the next question is how do we increase the oxygenation in our bodies. "

Besides the obvious (chelation), we use Vinpocetine and magnesium malate for

that.
