Guest guest
Good news, I guess. It's a disk protruding 3 mm and they are going to send the info to a pain specialist so I can get cortisone injections in my back to stop some of the pain. Because of my medical conditions, I'm not a good candidate for back surgery so they want to try stopping the pain rather than surgery unless it gets worse (and as much pain as I am in, I have to wonder how it could get worse). My regular doc prescribed Tramadol for me since the Vicodin makes me so sick and I can't take Codeine. Unfortunately, the warnings on the prescription said not to take if you can't take Vicodin or Codeine so I'm still without pain relief. The downside is the pain management doc's office just called and it will be a week before I can get an appt. so I'm without any relief from the pain for another week. Boy, I'll be glad when this is over with! It's much worse than my normal RA pain, even flaring. The rheumy wanted me to have another CBC because the one they did two weeks ago showed a high infection. So I called my PCP who said it's the prednisone giving a false result on the infection. Said mine is always really high and they track it and it hasn't gone up over the last several months. So I called the rheumy's office, told them what the PCP said and told them if they have a problem with that, to call my PCP and they can argue it out. Guest guest
>I'm sorry vickie. You might consider Social Security disability. You may qualify since you already have RA. Did the doctor say the tear was because of RA? I have a bad tendon in one of my ankles too, but I haven't had it checked. > Well, I got the results of the MRI done on my right foot. I have a partial tear in one of the tendons. It also showed a lot of fluid in the joint and a lot of inflamation. Now I have to see an Ortho next Tuesday to find out how to fix my ankle. I am bumming because if the put a cast ont like my dr thinks I won't be able to work for a while and we really need my income. I don't have short-term disability so we will be scraping. > > I get so depressed over this. I wish some of the drugs would work and slow down the disease. Guest guest
I think it's the drug. Caffeine is a proven trigger for headaches even in people who do not have migraines. You should notify your physician and get an alternative drug. The more you treat the headache with over the counter meds the more prone you are to having rebound type headaches, these are worse than the original headache. It took time but doing the exercises and stretches and the work they did during physical therapy helped enormously. So see if you can get a referral from the Ortho and if the Ortho won't give you one see if your regular doc will do it. I understand the depression. But sometimes I get more upset with the drugs then the disease. I started Fioriset this week for the pain and have awakened with an awful headache everyday. Is it the new drug? The heat? Allergies? The drug has caffeine and barbituates and it says you need to worry about fatigue but I'm afraid to take it at night because I can tell it's giving me more energy durng the day and I'm exhaused when it wears off. So figuring that out is so annoying. I'm going away next week and will experiment since I won't have to worry about getting up at 5:45a for work.Good luck with the tendon - mine was so painful and it was such a relief when it started to heal. susan On 7/18/06, Vicki <hoyt91@...> wrote: Well, I got the results of the MRI done on my right foot.
