You might as well just use curcumin.

It is extremely high sulfur and raises plasma cysteine levels a lot,

making you miserable if you are sensitive to thiol foods, according to

Andy.

It's very high in phenols, so can be a problem for those sensitive.

We are on Day #6 of the introductory dose. So far, no negatives. I'm hoping

for a language boost, which is what I've seen before with anti-viral

supplements. Curcumin is also an anti-inflammatory, which is another plus.

I'll pay attention to the phenol issue, but we don't seem to be sensitive to

phenols overall (not wildly so).

We've been chelating over 100 rounds, so perhaps he is just closer to recovery

and able to tolerate things? I've used turmeric/curcumin with my son before,

but decided to try this after a parent report of reading comprehension surges

and after reading about how curcumin typically isn't well absorbed (somehow

Enhansa is enhanced for absorbtion; don't know how but probably should find

out).

First friend sleepover last night! A real invitation... not family. I cried

the whole way home. Life is good.

I said this in another post, but the reason I'm trying Enhansa (I've used

curcumin before) is because I read curcumin is generally poorly absorbed and

Enhansa has been enhanced to maximize absorbtion. Of course, this was the

Enhansa website!

I don't have a sensitive kid. For me, it was worth a try. I've had good luck

with antivirals before, but I will keep an eye open for problems. We are on Day

5 of 150 mgs.

Although, if you buy curcumin with piperine (black pepper derivitive), the

absorbtion is supposed to be much better. The bottle I am using now for myself

(not Enhansa) doesn't have it, but I've used it in the past that way.

Cool! So happy to hear about it going well and the sleepover! Thank you for

keeping us informed about how the Enhansa is going, I have been very interested

because it is something we haven't tried yet though I have read a lot about it

(curcumin). (I did give him turmeric a looooong time ago and got the phenol

reaction).

A reaction of the body to products containing phenols or salicylates.

Symptoms are restlessness, agitation, agressivity, dark circles under

eyes... Am I missing any, anyone?

For my son - he does not get the " typical " red ears/ red cheeks look but his

symptoms are primarily behavioral - very hyper, even aggressive (and he is not

an aggressive type), very spontaneous (he can hit or kick for no reason), no

self control, giggly and silly. So even if I'm disciplining him for something

that he did wrong, he will look at me and giggle and I can tell he knows it is

not appropriate but he just cannot help it. His attention goes from descent to

zero, he gets very wiggly. He also becomes very emotional - like if he's not the

first one in line (at daycare), he will start crying and screaming...

When we increased his Enhansa dose (to 150 mg x 2 day) - he began hitting kids

at daycare, intentionally and out of the blue. Like during a circle time he

would just kick or whack a kid next to him. He would pick up and throw art

supplies on the floor. He became very defiant. When a teacher would tell him

something, especially " no " , he would get very rude and yell back. Just a

4-year-old-bully going on 14!

We have started on No Phenol yesterday (1 cap x 2 day) and we increased his

epsom salt bath to 2 cups of salt... We also eliminated bananas and apples...

working on taking out OJ. I will report out if we see major changes, however, I

don't know how long it might take for No Phenol and epsom salt to kick in. He is

off Enhansa for a good month now (so something else is causing his current

phenol reactions).

NoFenol are enzymes. They work instantaneously on whatever is in the

stomach.

So it should be given directly with the phenol food. Dosing over time is

ineffective.

For some reason, chelation kicks up the phenol/salicylate reactions for us and

we just avoid the foods for the most part. We have found that taking epsom salt

baths and a very strong yeast protocol does help us tolerate foods better. I

would definitely try to eliminate the orange juice because it is a major yeast

feeder.

I think the phenol reactions can be the same as food intolerances and actually

cause inflammation that makes a person impulsive and aggressive. The way your

child was acting is how mine would act if I gave him gluten. Do everything to

stop the inflammation, if it is not stopped, it is very hard for the child's

brain to heal. If you haven't started already, start chelating right away and

get the foods out of his diet that cause this. He will thank you and you will

thank yourself later.

Hi Liz,

we have done 5 rounds of chelation and plan on continuing every weekend (as much

as we can). Can you please suggest a website/ source that I can read to help me

identify food that is high in phenol. I've read on this forum about bananas,

apples and OJ. But I'm sure there is a whole lot more to it.

We have been doing Epsom salt baths for a while but I just went up to 2 caps per

bath and extended the time period that he's in there... I think he slept a bit

better last night (woke up only 2 times - it is HUGE for us since he usually

wakes up almost every hour...)

Thank you

Dana, your links on that page for lists of high-phenol foods have been

broken for over a year now and I keep telling you about them.

The ONLY one that works is:
