When sugar level is down, she gets really mean. It seems to subside after a couple of days. Why does this happen? Hypoglycemia associated with the stress of chelation. There are diet and supplement strategies that can help. See Andy's " Amalgam Illness " book, adrenal section. Add adrenal cortex extract to supplements. It is possible that the DMSA dose is too high for her. J She actually looks better while she is on the round. >
Guest guest
She weighs 74 lbs. and I give 6.25mg. every 4 hours. Seems like a pretty low dose for such big side effects. Guest guest
> After a round of DMSA, my child seems really sick and impulsive and her sugar levels go up and down. Chromium helps regulate sugar levels. Maybe try giving her some chromium? Dana
Guest guest
Usually the sickness from DMSA doesn't last for more than the first few rounds or so as far as I have heard, unless you take a long break and then it happens again. Dr. Yasko believes that DMSA is also an antiviral and it does have some antibacterial properties too. I think this is the reason for the sickness, whether it is actually antiviral or antibacterial if there is not metal present or whether the pulling of the metal releases and causes the body to recognize and defeat these things I don't know. Either way, it is a good thing because the bad stuff is getting cleaned up. I think the blood sugar imbalance thing happens because mercury is bound to insulin and the body has to rebalance when it is released. Avoiding sugar and having a low sweet diet helps, also eating frequent protein snacks, and giving adrenal support (Adrenal Cortex Extract) can help. If you have a hair test showing low lithium, this could also be a contributor because lithium helps metabolize glucose...problems metabolizing glucose can look like bipolar ups and downs (and I actually think bipolar disorder IS a problem with blood sugar) and supplementing with a small amount of lithium orotate for those symptoms UNTIL THEY ARE RESOLVED can alleviate this problem (in my experience with my own child). > > After a round of DMSA, my child seems really sick and impulsive and her sugar levels go up and down. Guest guest
thank you liz. my girl is so chemically sensitive so the DMSA probably makes her nuts like everything else i try. the ALA does the same thing. i need to keep going though, because her really really case of OCD is gone, and she is not violent anymore (unless she gets chocolate or too much corn) she is actually very nice now, so i have to believe that the chelation is doing this. i don't think she just outgrew the OCD. It was too severe. Don't you agree? Guest guest
Yes!! Wow, yours is so similar to mine! My son used to be violent and had OCD too, and impulsivity...these things are diminishing tremendously thanks to diet, chelation and supplements. I am a BIG BELIEVER that the key to conquering the OCD and calming the child in general is chelation and one of the ways you KNOW what it is doing is to look at how your child is behaving on day 3 of chelation and days 4 and 5 after...THOSE behaviors are going to be history when you are done. My kids lost both tics and OCD this way, NO other treatments can do this. > > > > > > After a round of DMSA, my child seems really sick and impulsive and her sugar levels go up and down. Guest guest
Oh man, I needed to hear this. I am just praying that I may see some improvement with the corn and chocolate (sugar too). If I saw such improvements with the violence and the OCD, do you think there is a good chance the horrible violent reaction to corn and chocolate may subside? Guess I just need confirmation. How many rounds have you done Liz. Sorry if you mentioned it. On Feb 7, 2010, at 2:18 PM, Liz wrote: > Yes!! Wow, yours is so similar to mine! Guest guest
Was your son violent at a very early age? Do you think it was a vaccine? Also, what did his OCD look like? Guest guest
All I can say is that my son used to be very intolerant of lots of supplements and now he is not as much. He also doesn't react as horribly as he used to with food infractions. I cannot say if he will be able to eat normally again, I can only hope, like you. I think we have done about 30 rounds, we go kind of slow though (rounds every 2, sometimes 3 weeks) and I've lost count. We've been at this about two years. Guest guest
Yeah, i am going very slow too. and i am on about round 40 or less. it is good to know that we are seeing some results on not so many rounds though. Guest guest
I blame two things for his violence, first were his 4 year old boosters, (MMR, DTapHIB-IPV whatever the heck it was penta-somethin shot) that shot him into oblivion, and then a DMSA challenge done by his first DAN! doc that set him into craziness. He went absolutely nuts after that. We are talking trying to strangle himself with cords, ripping down curtains, throwing heavy objects at family members, biting people in public, hurting/pushing/hitting little babies, screaming unmercifully, stomping on people's feet, running into traffic, headbanging, door slamming (actually amputated the tip of his finger), etc. We walked on eggshells for two years trying not to set him off. His OCD was mostly with water and sometimes with playing parts of videos over and over. He would run the water constantly and watch it, getting angry if you turned it off. Toward the time we got some balance in that area, we went to the OTHER extreme of being afraid of water. It was weird. His obsessions and fears of water are mostly resolved, but if there is a dietary infraction, sometimes the fear reappears momentarily. Right now, I see some obsession toward the end of a round with electronics, like video games, and insisting upon playing them and being left alone. It's funny because I am kind of like that at the ends of my rounds with the computer too LOL. I expect this to totally disappear when we are finished. My older son had a tic (finger snapping) and it was funny to see it reappear toward the end of chelation rounds, and then it was great to finally see it disappear completely. > > > > > > > > > > After a round of DMSA, my child seems really sick and impulsive and her sugar levels go up and down. Guest guest
You ladies don't know how glad I am to hear this... Our son has been so volitile for the past few years. He is very chemically sensitive and many of the supplements make him nuts. Diet has helped alot, but I am really hoping chelation will alleviate his many food sensitivities and his horrible behavioral problems. Thank you for the hope...I pick up the DMSA on Monday!! Guest guest
Me too. She use to just react continuously with no provocation, so I never knew what was making her rage. It seemed like when the wind blew, she would get mean and irritable. Now I can see distinctley that corn and sugar are two of the main culprits. She use to be mad all of the time. Now when she has a clean diet, she is actually happy. Can you relate? On Feb 7, 2010, at 4:07 PM, Liz wrote: > Yes, I sure do! Guest guest
Jill. I am so glad that this is helping you. It's crazy, but it really helps to know that we are not alone. Are there ANY supplements that he tolerated? The only one my girl can handle is lithium orotate at the moment. I am not sure why. Perhaps her body just really needs it. Who knows. It does not help with any of the reactions from corn though. I really wish I could find something that would help with the impulsivity and confusion she gets with the it. I think inositol is suppose to help with the impulsivity. Not sure though. On Feb 7, 2010, at 4:08 PM, Jill wrote: > You ladies don't know how glad I am to hear this... Guest guest
I am very lucky that he avoids the foods he is not supposed to have all on his own. I did have to teach him that it gave him an " owie tummy " , it took a long time. Guest guest
Just knowing there is a place to come to for answers and advice is comforting! At this time our son Liam who is 8 takes Gaba, Theanine, Biotin,Magnesium Malate, Folinic Acid and I have weaned him down to 1/2 capsule of Adderall (trying to get him off, as he is SO thin). When yeast and viruses flare we use GSE and OoO, but he doesn't tolerate them very well. He seems to be very sensitive to oils and salicylates. His food sensitivities are crazy and hopefully chelation will help with them. I'm sure when we get the protocol from our DAN, i will have questions and appreciate everyone's input. All the best!! Guest guest
I forgot, he also takes MB12 shots every other day and is on the Feingold diet since 2006. When he eats off his diet or eats salicylates, he gets diarrhea and his behavior gets bad (aggression, aggitation, ODD, weapy/cries, sleep disturbances).Phenols cause red ears/face, aggression and night terrors.
