Why has my son started to eat poop? Can anyone help?

My son has recently started to eat his own poop.

I have researched on the internet and found very little, except that it's called

Coprophagia, and it's the ugliest word I have ever come across. He has autism

and though he was diagnosed a decade ago and I thought I knew so much about this

disorder I didn't know this could be part of it.

I'm at a loss.....I've taken him to the doctor and found no help there. This is

the dark side of Autism, that no one warns you about, nor talks about. Why not

tell the story and help others. I can't imagine he is the only one.

I thought for sure some blog somewhere would have mentioned it or some first

hand account, but I found nothing. What I did find was very brief and vague.

I don't want to think that this is what it's going to be like for him for the

rest of his life.

He is an SCD, gfcf, no sugar, antifungals, multivitamins, etc.
