Guest guest
We tried it and it seemed to help. The only issue was trying to get the extra calcium in my boy in the morning. Respen-A depletes calcium blood levels, so you have to take 2000mg of calcium with breakfast. This equals 6 large horse pills of powder. Our boy doesn't swallow pills, so we couldn't get that all into his juice and drank before school. Our DAN suggested it, but I'm a little skeptical when I don't know much about it.
Guest guest
I'm not an expert but I heard a little bit about this at the AutismOne Conference. It is my understanding that it is a homeopathic remedy that clears the damage caused by an epidural. I did not have an epidural with my ASD son so it doesn't make sense for us to do it. For some people it is very effective. http://aydansrecovery.blogspot.com/2009_08_01_archive.html From: ny2tx99 <mom2emmakate@...> Subject: [ ] Respen-A??? Guest guest
It doesn't cure anything, it just gives relief, like aspirin does for a headache. Guest guest
We tried it for our 9 y/o son a few months ago. Unfortunately he is very sensitive and did not tolerate it. He became extremely emotional and would cry and hide under his bed, etc. He is extremely sensitive to everything, so we weren't surprised he did not tolerate it. Jill > > Anyone heard of it? Guest guest
Thanks for responding TJ. That is a huge amount of calcium. My daughter doesn't swallow pills either. If I may ask, what did it seem to help with? My daughter became non-verbal last October. She has lots of anxiety, a short attention span, difficult to motivate sometimes, etc. She is a good eater and usually a good sleeper. > > We tried it and it seemed to help. Guest guest
It seemed to help with his language and being able to follow directions in school. If your girl is a good eater you can mix the calcium into food. It can be cooked as well, since it is a mineral. We were putting it in my boy's pancakes, but he didn't always eat them. Chelation is the ultimate answer. It is just something to help while you are chelating.
