Guest guest
I wouldn't send him in to school on the day they are going to administer the vaxes. > > What is the best way to make sure my son doesn't accidently get this vax? > > >
Guest guest
Is he verbal? I'd tell me son that they are giving shots out at school and he is under no circumstances allowed to be given a shot. He is such a rule follower and would listen! I'd also go to the teacher, the nurse and the office to let them know they do not have permission to vaccinate my child. The teacher would be the first line of defense, I would think, if they go class by class. I realize this is probably being run by an outside nurse/clinic, but I'm guessing the teacher is involved when a child from his/her class goes for the shot. Post it on the wall by the door like they do with day to day parent schedule notes. I know people say this has happened, but it still boggles my mind. If there were just a 1 day clinic, I would not send my child or I would make sure I was in the school that day. I'd probably be at school to ruffle some feathers. Guest guest
I was planning on keeping him home. Telling his teacher no vax in person and in wriitng. Possibly writing a letter to the principal also (just incase they switch the date that they are giving the vax). He can't talk well enough to tell them no vax so it just scares me. I've heard of a lot of mistakes of giving the vax to the wrong kid or misreading paperwork. Guest guest
I am planning to keep him home. It is two days because they have to give two seperate shots. My son is verbal, but I'm not sure if he is articulate enough to tell them that he can't have the shot. He is more scripty and then only asks for things he needs, but argueing or disagreeing with an adult would be something totally new for him. I was thinking about making him where a layette with a large not that says no H1N1, but that may be strange. I don't think they should have vaccinations in school! What is with this! People can go to the doctor. On Thu, Feb 4, 2010 at 11:28 AM, Pamela H <phaselow@...> wrote: > > > Is he verbal? Guest guest
If he has egg allergies you can include that in your letter with a copy of his food allergy test. No one with an egg allergy should get it. Yes, please keep him home. Non-verbal kids are more at risk of mistakes. Up his C, D & A since he'll be exposed to virus shedding from others. But we have no way of knowing when other kids get other vacs. Kathy

Guest guest
Thanks! Good idea! This is so scary to me. Ever since this has happened to my son I warn all pregnant friends about the vaccines and give them info. Most ignore me, but 2 decided not to get the shot... With both the hospital " accidently " gave it to their baby anyway. Its just so scary! Guest guest
You're very welcome. I think it's printed on the vac data sheet. Snyderman, who I don't care for, talked about it on the Today show. At least we got that going for us. It's best not in a letter what we're really trying to avoid. I've printed out some papers & websites for expecting moms. Just trying to save some kids. Kathy -- <helmbrechtmelissa@...> wrote: Thanks! Good idea! Guest guest
I would keep him home. NOT worth the risk. It only takes 1 substitute nurse or person who doesn't know your child and your wishes and the next thing you know, he was vaccinated. I don't trust anybody and you cannot undo that damage. Just not worth the risk or you can do as another listmate suggested and be in school the entire day but that seems like a lot of work on your part. You hear about this happening on the news and frankly these people don't know the first thing about our children and the harms vaccines can do to them. They think we're crazy...again, I wouldn't trust anyone. JM2cents Sent from my Verizon Wireless BlackBerry
Guest guest
how about writing on his arm or put a bandaid or white first aid tape on his arms that says " No Shots "  like how the medical community sometimes write on the patient's body before an operation, or just keep him home (even better).  These school vax programs would make me nervous too. Guest guest
Great idea. I am going to try and keep him home. I just worry that they will change the date that the clinic is at our school or something. I talked to his teacher and there isn't many kids in his class. They wouldn't let him go to the office without someone taking him so if they change the date hopefully the teacher will remember.. Great suggestion. Guest guest
This is insane. I can't believe they would allow medical adminstration of a shot without a parent present.....these are minors. I really wish our schools would just educate....the government needs to stop using our schools as implemention outlets for their agendas. Guest guest
They figure they have a captive audience (herd) that way. Parents are used to signing forms sent home from school... less time to think about it when signing a form that when scheduling and keeping an appt at the local clinic. When I was in public elementary school (shows my age) the measles and rubella shots (and maybe mumps) (separate in those days) were administered in the gym with a vaccine " gun " . They just lined us up and " herded " us through. I'm pretty sure they sent home permission slips (which, unfortunately, my parents and most, if not all, others signed). Guest guest
Public schools are government owned entities which are funded by federal and state money....therefore they can use them as they wish. Sick as that is. Definitely be VERY aware of what papers they send home and ask you to sign. Guest guest
I think everyone had very good suggestions. I would personally do the writing on the arm. You can't mistake that! Do you have a medical exemption for the vaccinations? I would talk to your doctor if not, and I would hand-deliver a notarized letter to the school with copies for everyone and meet with the principal and make sure that they know that your child has an environmentally-induced illness and as such, receiving the vaccination by accident would prove to have serious ramifications not only for him, but them as well, but in the most tactful sweet-with-sting way. We took the religious and medical exemptions for our state. Guest guest
So she'll have to go to the dentist for more toxins.... S S Re: Free Swine Flu Vax at my son's school Posted by: " Helmbrecht " helmbrechtmelissa@... helmbrechtmelissa Sat Feb 6, 2010 3:42 pm (PST) I just walked by the H1N1 free shots in the mall today. They were giving candy to the kids that got the shots. I wanted to stop this family that was jabbing their adorable 2/3 year old daughter. Well at least she got a sucker right? sigh ------------------------------------------------------------ Click here to find experienced pros to help with your home improvement project. Guest guest
Well what scares me is they gave me the date of the first H1N1 shot.. so I'll keep my son home from school, but the second . shot is to be 25-32 days later. I don't know if they will announce it. I can't keep him home for two weeks. I'll probably write no shot on his arm for that time period and pester his teacher about the dates. My husband did the we'll have to sue the school threat at our confrience (in the friendliest manner). Guest guest
I thought it was pretty common conclusion even among those giving the first that a second was not needed, but again it may be being pushed when there are captive herds.
