Guest guest
Well, L-carnitine *is* added to or promoted as a weight loss supplement since it is thought to increase fat/energy metabolism. I had always assumed it was somewhat of a scam. I think there are some studies that showed carnitine decreased fat mass and increased muscle mass, which I guess could account for weight loss but could also lead to weight gain since muscle weighs more than fat. Perhaps your son is also more active and hitting a growth spurt? Increase his calorie intake a bit for the next few weeks. If you don't notice a weight gain with calorie intake, then I'd be worried. For now? As long as it doesn't continue to go down, I would keep giving the L-carnitine. Try adding nuts, nut butters, healthy fats (coconut oil, olive oil), smoothies, avocados, an extra hamburger here or there and see what happens. I'm glad to hear you saw improvements! How exciting. Guest guest
Usually you need to use Fish oil and CoQ10 together with L-Carnitine. Congratulations for the improvements! What brand of L-Carnitine are you using?
