Most skin symptoms are toxins coming out, so you could call them die-off symptoms. But die-off symptoms are the same as healing or detoxifying symptoms. Die-off was a term that was created in order to describe candida or other bugs being killed off and the resulting symptoms, which fall under the term Herxheimer Reactions as written in this article: http://www.healingnaturallybybee.com/articles/heal2.php The best, Bee
Guest guest
Hi Bee, I was trying to keep this in mind as a healing reaction, but I couldn't believe it could last for so long! Thats when I started to get worried. I have been operating in the naturepathic frame of mind that when there are 'reactions' to food, remove them. I will try and see this as something his body actually needs. Well, hopefully its onwards and upwards from here now. I will try some of the removed food again shortly. Guest guest
I used to get hives a lot ... and the occasional anaphylaxis (two resulting in hospitalisation) and during my internet investigations I have joined several email groups and learnt a heap of stuff. An allergist/immunologist put me on a low carb diet years ago to get my very high insulin down. I was not allergic to anything, except dust mites (and who isn't). I didn't have bad hives while on the diet but as soon as I went off it I got them again, worse. Then it was food intolerance as my number one suspect. I was convinced that salicylates were my problem ....... so cut them out as much as I could. Noticed an improvement but I knew that wasn't the whole answer. Then discovered (by accident) a candida group .... sorry, it was the one you've been warning us against..... but I learnt a lot there. Recently, I found this one (I think someone on another group mentioned this group). Voila!!! I'm still learning ........ but now I am 100% convinced all of my problems were a direct result of candida overgrowth!!!! My doctor has " humoured " me and written three scripts for Nystatin capsules. I want to get some more because I still have fungal signs..... behind my ears and in my belly-button. The doctor thinks I'm over-reacting because I don't have obvious thrush, but he said, " it can't really hurt " . So I will do it again. Is there something else (more natural) to take that will do the same thing? I eat coconut oil by the teaspoon when I think about it and have garlic sometimes (when I'm not going out). Still on a low carb diet because I feel so much better on it. I do have cream in my coffee and eat cheese ... I gather they are no-no's?? Thank you to all the help I am receiving here. Sorry this is long, Re: Hives I have had hives and eczema also. Guest guest
Hi there, I have a toxic liver (as well as the usual leaky gut and candida) and my kinesiologist told me, if the bowel and the liver cannot detox properly, the skin is used to help eliminate toxins. Hence rashes and hives. And it itches such a lot! Typical of liver and gall problems. Perhaps you could try a liver cleanse or support for the liver, such as L-arginine, taken away from meals, or milk thistle. Also lots of vitamin C - rosehips apparently helps specifically the liver. Hope you're feeling better already. Fleur > > I had red that allergic hives could happen as reaction not only to > food but to infection like H Pylori or Candida. Guest guest
Hallo, Skin reactions like eczema, hives and rashes are typical of disturbances in the intestinal flora. See the book " Digestive Wellness " by Lipski (PhD, CCN) to explain this. A lot of other reactions, like asthma, depression and even schizophrenia can be linked to unhealthy intestinal flora. The reaction to food and environmental sensitivities presents like a histamine reaction, hence the rash, itch, redness and swelling. It should improve as your gut heals and the liver detoxes. Good luck, Fleur > > I have had hives, still have sometimes, and also have eczema. The cause > for me is allergy.
Guest guest
WOW, if it cause anaphylaxus it is scary.I had it all over my body after using sprey Yeast Free - homeopatic supplement with some Candida Albacan in it. I didn`t expect such reaction. Yes, I have gallbladder sluggish and tried to move it with many supplements but not too long because it cause more reflix to me.( I have GERD) It is interesting if somebody tried Nwettle and Quercetin for hives. I used Nettle and it helped without side effects but only temporarily. I am fine now but if I will get hives again I will try quercetin. In regard of nystatin it didn`t helped me at all.I was told it used mostly to thrush but it didn`t healped for that too.Coconat is in my list of food intolerances by ALCAT as many other things so I can`t healp for candida much. And I can`t stand strick diet too because i already developed eating desorder from it. Thank you for all responces. Guest guest
Stress and hives can be related. AIH itself can cause itching, with or without a rash. Or perhaps you have developed a drug allergy? I hope you're talking with your doctor about this, so you can find relief. I have no idea of what this is or whether it could be serious rather than just uncomfortable. I will say that if you sense any swelling around your mouth, throat, or tongue, you must get to a hospital immediately. Anaphylactic shock can be a quick killer. Carrying an EpiPen is a good idea if there's any chance of anaphylaxis. Harper In a message dated 6/6/09 3:48:45 AM, proudgrandmamaof3@... writes: > > > Has anyone broke out in hives from having AIH? Guest guest
I just had a similar incident myself. I had small itchy bumps that started on my shins and that was all. I attibuted it to a new razor (it had 3 moisture strips and my skin is sometimes sensative to new detergents or fragranced items). I switched razors. I had that and only that for like 3 months. Then I started itching on my stomach and back. the little bumps were there now. I put hydocortizone and benadyrl cream and took a benadryl in addition to my allergy med, and they have all since resolved. I dont know if it was related to my AIH or if it was becuase pollen count was so high (it is possible to break out in hives to do seasonal allergies) or somehow a combination of the 2. I hope you will see the doctor. I have had the hives, that was diagnosed Discoid Lupus, before I was diagnosed with PBC and liver cirrhosis ( as a matter of fact it started the diagnosis for the liver disease). It went away with a short session of prednisone, and has not been seen since except on a few occasion one here and there. Of course the doctor put me on Ursodiol, and I changed a lot of eating habits, etc. This was in 1999. So see the doctor and find out the cause. I hope it is just allergies or stress!!! Guest guest
I don't know what discoid lupus is; are you saying that's what went away? Or did something else go away? You are saying hives indicate discoid lupus? Discoid has nothing to do with the discs in the spine? I'm obviously very fuzzy about your post, Clara! Guest guest
My 2 1/2 year old has been breaking out in hives for the past 2 months. It started on his bum and he will have hives come and go on his back, torso, and legs. He had his IGes and he is allergic to grass and mold. 6 months ago his viral panels were clean. Can anyone give me any help on this one? Should I have his iGgs tested? Elimination diet? He has been undergoing yeast treatments with nizoril, then GSE (we noticed the hives just a few days after we started the GSE), then nystatin and now nizoral again. Please help, we are desperate. It is a delayed hypersensitivity reaction so these are the ones that are tougher to detect with elimination diets. That being said - an elimination diet is extremely helpful. When you get the IgG test done, it is helpful to have all the " regular foods " that he is eating in his system. That way the test is more accurate. But if you are unable to get the test done soon, or at all, try an elimination diet, eliminating all the more common allergies (gluten, casein, soy, peanuts, egg, corn) and after a couple weeks, assess any changes. After 4-6 weeks on the diet it is safe to start adding in one food at a time and look for reaction (skin, gi, behaviour). Never add in more than 1 food at a time or it will be tough to detect any culprits! Also, don't forget to look at the possiblities of laundry detergent, bath products, lotions, diaper chemicals, etc. Make sure you are using high dose probiotics as well as the GSE and antifungals! Guest guest
Hi Caroline, I'm just wondering if you took Niacin for the first time yesterday when you said you began to take all the correct supplements. A niacin flush can look like a break out of hives. It's, of course, also possible that you had a break out of hives which is just another way for your body to get rid of toxins. Either way, try to look at as part of the healing process. All the best, (a group moderator) > > Dear Bee, > > I have just experienced a large outbreak of hives. Guest guest
I totally agree with Wil.. I am learning how very complex and interdependent on each other, the systems in our bodies are! I have been using some of Wil's products and protocols lately, and am having HUGE success that I have NOT HAD in YEARS.. I trust the guy; and I can't recommend him more highly to you! Louise Just cause you would grind the food to a very small size does not make it digest any better and get into your blood. Digestion does not work like that anyway. You stomach need to ferment or break down the food stuff, you need sufficient microorganism population and diversity to continue the break down the food stuff and recognition of the food stuff before it can be transferred to the blood. When taking prednizone you are disrupting this whole process and your food actually becomes a toxin to you. You body will see your food as an enemy invading. I know prednizone keeps you from having the swelling and allergic reactions, but there has to be a major underlying issue to even have the hives to manifest. The allergic to everything situation is telling me you not only have a gut flora imbalance but you have some other issues in your GI tract and most likely candida is just one of them Wil Spencer VMSP, Naturopath > > Spent the evening in the ER as I cannot eat anything without breaking out in hives and angioedemas. Guest guest
My oldest daughter (Jen) healed herself of hives with Vitamin B. (She would get hives all over her body!!!) ..I recommend full-spectrum B-100's.. Honestly, taking chemicals/medicines/drugs and sugar/Ensure [Dr. Atkins called sugar the " quintessential anti-nutrient, " as it is linked to probably *every* major illness], is like swimming in quicksand.. You may be getting a quick fix here and there, but the body is actually being toxified the longer you stay on this regimen. It would indeed be a miracle to see you get well this way.. [i love you!!!] ..The body is *natural* and needs *natural means* to heal itself!!!!! [No one would know this more than I!!! I was the " Candy Kid, " and have the fillings to prove it!!! I also had to learn a different way and lifestyle, or die.. And I don't miss the old ways either; feeling better than I did is incentive/reward enough..] Wil would more than certainly know what steps to take to see you get well.. He was desperately ill himself years ago, and saw himself to wellness through natural means! I do not tell you these things to burst your bubble--someone had to tell me too, that Pop Tarts were *not* ok!! Try the B's.. Email Wil through the group OR check out his bodyelectrician.com website where his contact info is.. THERE ARE ANSWERS FOR YOUR DILEMMA!! Keep seeking--but look to *natural* means!! Hope this helps!!LouisePS I have a Doctor friend whose practice does food allergy testing.. (He is a Chiro and he has naturo Hopkins M.D.s in the office too.) If you have insurance a lot of companies pay for this testing.. Let me know if you would be interested. If you are not in my Baltimore, MD area, this office could give you a referral I am sure.. unfortunately, the angioedemas from eating " good food " are preventing that. Ensure may not be the best thing but it is keeping me alive at this point as opposed to either the olive oil, garlic, asparagus or broccoli last week that sent me to the ER when I could not breathe. I would prefer a better liquid diet for sure but those are few and far between and there has been nothing I can eat that has not caused huge hives, some in my throat. I am more unhappy about the prednisone but have a doctor's appt tomorrow and will see from there. I am still getting yeast flares and hives with the pred anyhow. > > Ensure is like drinking a milk shake chased by a vitamin tablet. I absolutely do not recommend the stuff..(Sorry..)LouisePS One Doctor has said that, if the body craves calcium and we give it candy, where is it going to get what it needs? From our teeth, and our bones.. *That* it is said, is why our health breaks down in mid-life: but can be rebuilt again IF we give the body its correct treatment which of course includes proper nutrition.. Hope this helps.. xoxoxo > ------------------------------------
Guest guest
thanks. I am having a histamine reaction to everything that is food and has to be digested, as well as some meds. There is a great allergist down in Chevy Chase (Dr. Li) that I have the name of but the propofol did a real number and I think until that is resolved doing anything else except trying to maintain and not die in the ER is too much. I take a lot of vitamins, including the Bs. I am seeing the doctor that helped in 1994 when the same thing happened and I had an allergic reaction/yeast, etc. to drugs and my own hormones. He will have some green liquid foods I think and then I have to get over the fact that for six weeks eating better than I ever have made the hives worse and work up the nerve to drink something that in food form sent me to the ER... And I don't miss the old ways either; feeling better than I did is incentive/reward enough..] > Wil would more than certainly know what steps to take to see you get well.. >
