Guest guest
Leona, I've had tough nails all of my life. They're like steel! But there are cycles when they begin to peel and break easily. They even seem to stop growing. I've thought that increased calcium has made them more pliable so instead of being brittle and breaking off to the quick when they grow long, I just need to keep the edges smooth. Unfortunately, my nails seem to be on a different agenda from my bones. Funny that bone density loss doesn't seem to affect fingernails. My new Internist did confirm that it will cause decalcification of the teeth. Something more to worry about! Take care, Geri
Guest guest
ADD MORE FAT TOO nails Dawn, thank you for the advice on protein, calcium and silica. I am pretty sure I get enough protein, probably a little more than I need. I eat a lot of meat. I will pay more attention to my calcium intake, and will try silica if the food balance/seasonal cycle issue does not resolve this over the next month or so. Guest guest
you are welcome nails added to the advice that I should add fat. That may be it! I know it is beneficial to eat animal fats, BUT, years of conditioning on high carb, lo protein, no fat diets have caused me to default to fatless cooking methods and recipes. I definitely eat a low-fat diet. Even with all the discussion on this list, it is hard to establish new habits, and to be aware of these subconscious decisions I make. , thank you for the reminder. I just had a nice big lamb filet, and I did NOT trim off the fat!!!!
Guest guest
Hi, Arlene, My nails split and I have hangnails all over!!! Sometimes the top layer is peeled back above the quick. Fortunately the lower layer is hanging in there!. I keep putting oil on the cuticles, etc. My numbers show me in the normal range now..but I'm not sure what to do now. Guest guest
I went for acrylics, Fran. I got tired of fussing with them trying to get them to stop chipping up and cracking. Had acrylics ever since; makes my life easier. Donna http://trak.to/life www.reliv.com Take control of your health! frances point wrote: Hi, Arlene, My nails split and I have hangnails all over!!! Guest guest
Hi Ann, I have this problem with the pointer finger on my right hand. I was told it was psoriasis of the fingernail. Later I found out that although psoriasis is listed as an autoimmune disease, some think it is caused by Candida. I am not an authority on this though. donna annm_searching <annm_searching@...> wrote: My nails seem to be mostly healthy in that the parts attached to the fingers are clear, smooth, not too thin or thick, and *very* fast- growing. But, the parts that grow out, are opaque white and very hard to cut. If I scrape the undersides of them, the opaque white comes off as a sort of powder, and I think if I could scrape it all off, they'd be clear. What I'm wondering is if this is from the candida, or from the water I wash with, something in the water that attaches to the nails. Guest guest
Dear Ann, More than likely the white stuff from your nails is caused by candida. You can treat externally with tea tree oil on your nails or abnormal skin patches. Guest guest
I haven't gone because they use lotions while massaging hands and feet. I miss not going, but since lotions are a no no, I'm not willing to take that risk. I know...it stinks... > > Does anyone have any input for what to do about manicures and > pedicures? Guest guest
LOL! It's hard to call them manicures and pedicures without the whole lotion, massage thing. But I think I'll do what you did and let them think I'm nuts. Thanks. Yellow nails can be a sign of yeast. Biotin deficiency can cause weak nails, and biotin is used by the body to control yeast. So since you are chelating, it appears you have a yeast issue going on, and a depletion of biotin. Try increasing the yeast protocol and add biotin. Guest guest
My nails have improved a lot since being back on Erfa and T3 but after several months.  Not only were my finger nails all ridged and breaking but my toe nails too.I still have a thumb nail that breaks down a ridge vertically and is very painful when it does and when it catches on something.  I have to either cut it right down or put a plaster over it. However I find they always improve after I have had a professional manicure.   I don't know why.  I also put a lot of OPI nail envy on.Lilian Hi everybody  I think I read somewhere that a lot could be gathered from the condition of a persons hands {If they were cold etc]  I still have ridged nails -despite a large range of vits and mins . Guest guest
Since I started the hCG drops and very low calorie diet, my nails have improved tremendously. I had some deep ridges which were white. My nails are now pink, with no ridges. This is quite amazing.
