Guest guest
We didn't try the EMLA. It does get better. Always harder when they're little. We stick with cost effective labs these days. It's the fear of going that's worse for him now. We talked about it & he squeezed my hand. He still sits in my lap at 11. He cried some but did fine for the 1st time & said it wasn't that bad. I think we got a talented lab person to boot. Kathy From: Pamela H <phaselow@...> Subject: [ ] Re: hard time with blood drawn I agree it just gets better. EMLA made no difference for my child. He was just scared. He agreed it didn't hurt. He still doesn't like it, and will nearly hyperventilate (but sit still), but he doesn't fight. I try to draw blood as little as possible because I realized I wasn't really monitoring anything critical...just maybe getting some pleasure out of seeing labs and thinking I was getting somewhere. I do know there are kids who need real monitoring, don't get me wrong. I just think most of our kids don't. Pam
