I love my RD. Just love him. I would wait forever but I never have to. Why? Because he has a personal assistant that does everything for him. They keep him on time for his appointments right on schedule. I have to say booking has alot to do with wait time because alot of time they over book patients allowing 15 min per patient. Depending on the patients case history usually a doctors office will alot 20 minutes or more if the patient needs extra attention. Usually a good office will know that. I get my labs done first and then am seen quickly. They have such a system there. You cant imagine how efficient. Your doctor may be nirvana but he has to know how to manage his case load effectively and some doctors just dont have a feel for that. I have had my share of waiting and I can tell you, if the RD knows his stuff, he will now your personality, your illness, and order tests and so forth ahead of time like mine does. You need to be seen within a reasonable time. You only wait two hours for the almighty himself or in the ER. RDs should know when you need to be seen asap and should accomodate you. Certain Key words that can help are "urgent" "agonizing" Squeeze me in.......and so forth. I have used all of the later. I have even written a personal letter to my doctor explaining my pain and my needs. They usually will increase my medication without an office visit if I put the request in writing or give it to the nurse or assistance directly. Referrals can also be made with just a phone call. I fell on ice on friday and have waited for three days in the ER for hours without being seen so I called my PCPs office and they said I just need a referral from her and they will see me on a walk-in basis. That will be done today. I hope things get better for you. Blessings, Deborah
