Guest guest
Dear Listmates, Any advice for either food poisoning or gastroenteritis during pregnancy? Violent watery stool, cramping and projectile vomiting are my main symptoms, I don't seem to have a fever. I took some slipperly elm and probiotics last night and got some sleep in. Would like to treat this naturally.. Any concerns for the baby? Other than make sure I stay hydrated? Thank you Teraza

Guest guest
Do you have some activated charcoal? If so, take some and plenty of water. Will have you feeling better in no time! Guest guest
There are some specific probiotic mixes that help with Gastro - usually they have that yeast Sac Boul (cant' remember the whole name) in them. Also the Lactobacillus Plantarum is good - that's the one that helps with Irritable bowel. Colostrum is the other thing that I've found really helps - it gets sold over here in a tablet called Travelan, specifically for traveller's diarrhoea. If you have access to homoeopathics Ars Alb or Carbo Veg are often specific for food poisoning/gastro symptoms. Guest guest
Hello, Teraza. So, so sorry you're feeling this way. Wishing you a speedy recovery. I found coconut kefir....so free of all harmful substances for me. Seems to help quite nicely with IBS. Possibly will help you recover? Here's the link: (maybe find it in a store near you?) http://www.soydelicious.com/products/coconut_milk_kefir.html Take care, Theodora > > Dear Listmates, > > > > Any advice for either food poisoning or gastroenteritis during pregnancy? > Violent watery stool, cramping and projectile vomiting are my main symptoms, > I don't seem to have a fever. Guest guest
Please run a " febrile reaction " test just to discard salmonelle or tiphoidea, only to be sure, since violent diarrhea and vomiting are main symptoms of it. If it were, the ABX route will not be easy to avoid. If it is only food poisoning, take activated charcoal(2xday), perrier water w lemon (to keep stomach alkaline despite of it being empty), when tolerated, PLENTY chicken broth and jell-o, electrolyte replenishing drink (no gatorade, pls, will give u more diahrrea cuz of the sugar). If you have access to guava (chinese or latin supermarket), boiling the fruit w a cinnamon stick and drinking this concoction is very astringent and is a great " diahrrea stopper " . Headache? Massage your neck and feet w peppermint oil. Rest as much as possible. Wish u a quick recovery!
