Hi!

I noticed humira working the day after my first injection. Before the

injection my hands were swollen stiff in the mornings...the day after I

didn't have much stiffness at all. Humira seems to work very well for

me, but I still have pain some days be it in the shoulder, knee,

finger, ankle, but not nearly as bad as before humira. A few days

before my next injection is due I notice a few more aches. I take

humira every two weeks. I don't know about any of them being stronger

than the other tho.

see any improvement with Humira? And does anyone know why Humira is

once every other week and Enbrel is twice a week? Is Humira stronger?

My wife has RA and she just started taking Humira 4 weeks ago. She

didn't notice any difference right away, but about a week after the

first injection she noticed lots less pain, and now she can raise her

arms a lot higher, and she feels a lot better. This is the first

injectable she's taken. She take it every 2 weeks, and so far (after 2

injections) she's really happy with it. No noticable side effects so

far. Hoep it works well for you!

I am also on humira and my lovely partner injects me fortnightly.

generally i find it really good - better than remicade. but, i

still find that i flare (like now) when i am under lots of stress.

i think the key to any of these medications is to keep stress levels

down.

i am really glad that it is helping your wife.

Hi Vicki,

I don't know the answers to these questions but Enbrel got me to about 50%

improvement and Humira has gotten to me about 85%. Humira just works

better for me.

I am on humira, and i take it one a week, so maybe hoe often you take it depends on your condition. Also when I first started, my rheumy told me it would take about for me to notice any changes, in WIDonk <d.knieriem@...> wrote: My wife has RA and she just started taking Humira 4 weeks ago. MY Rheumatologist said that Humira was the same as Enbrel - which I am taking, so if

Enbrel wasn't working, he wanted to switch me to Remicade.

Except that I suggested (more like demanded) that we re-start the smallest dose of MTX

with the Enbrel, which he agreed to do. I wonder how he worded that in my medical record -

"patient highly suggested that she start Methotrexate again"?

I do not agree with your Rheumatologist, Becky, Humira and

Enbrel are not the same. I have taken both and Humira works

better for me.

Good luck with the Humira, it has really helped keep me in either remission or

with a flare every now and then, but mostly just a bad day type of thing.

As you probably know it burns like heck. Not much you can do for it, but I

leave it out a half hour prior to injecting. Some ice the area prior to

injecting. I

inject slowly, over the course of 30 sec. to a minute. I do my shot in front of

the

computer with some nice picture on screen to distract me and then I just surf

the web until I feel ready to get up. I do it right before bed, it makes some

people sleepy.

Good luck!

Thanks !

I've heard (but have no experience myself yet) that the burning

associated with the injection is from the alcohol cleaning the area,

that if you let the alocohol dry completely before injecting that it

doesn't then burn. Any truth to that in your experience?? Wishful

thinking maybe? but that's what I've been told and was hoping.

I'm just hoping it works for me in general though. I've been off

meds WAY too long, all but mobic and prednisone and I've been

waiting 3 weeks just to get my insurnace to approve the humira. I'm

anxious to get it and get started :)

Thanks again!

Hi

I take humira. We let it sit out about half an hour and my husband injects it slowly. He injects the humira in 3 small bursts without taking the needle out . The last shot I had did not even burn, only when he wiped afterwards w/the alcohol pad. I've used humira since August and since he started injecting it in small bursts it has not nearly hurt as much as when I first started it.

Good luck!

Must just affect some over others; or maybe just some more than

others. Hopefully I'm a lucky one and it doesn't bother me :)

I've been on Humira for months now. I have no burning sensation just

discomfort while injecting it. I go real slow.

I do believe that a trip to the dentist and normal flu shots rank a

LOT higher on the overall pain meter. The more relaxed you can be the

better! Good Luck!
