In response to the question of citrus EO, I have experienced the burn of

using citrus oil on the body from sun light. I've also read not to use it

from many books.

I in fact take a medication which have the same effect in direct sunlight.

Hi and Jan,

I love to research and have found lots of info on EO's. The trouble is, it's

very difficult to know who's right and who's wrong, and where is the actual

research? I would never go around putting EO's " willy nilly " into my products

(I am also aware of safety regulations for pregnant and nursing mothers, as well

as other health conditions). I still have to wonder if it's " okay " to use

certain citrus EO's in lip balms, as long as they are accurately measured and

w/in accepted safety guidelines of usage. I have seen lip balms in my local

health food stores that have tangerine and lime EO's....of course and also

peppermint and spearmint. I realize that citruses can have a photosensitizing

affect, but I wonder at what percentage does this occur?

Regarding photosensitiviy in EO's, I read in the book titled " Illustrated

Encyclopedia of Essential Oils " , by Lawless (1995) that distilled orange

EO is phototoxic. However expressed orange EO has no evidence that it is

phototoxic, even though it contains coumarins. Tangerine EO is possibly

phototoxic, although it hasn't been demonstrated. Expressed lime EO is

phototoxic. Grapefruit and litsea cubeba were not listed as being phototoxic.

I don't know if her information is accurate or not. I just find it interesting.

Just wanted to let you know what I've found so far. No one seems to really know

the answers...at least I haven't found out, yet. I'll keep researching before

(if at all) I use them in my products. I tried an artificial lip balm flavoring

and hated it. If I have to, I'll stick w/peppermint and spearmint EO's.

Hi Amy, I make lots of lip balms but have never used E/O's in them because

of the threat of irritation as you mentioned and also that a lot of these

have health risks for some people and a few of them are actually poisonous

if ingested--wintergreen being one of them. There are health risks to

certain groups using E/O's--like pregnacy & nursing mothers being a big

one.

The citrus ones have a tendancy to increase your vulnerability to UV rays

from the sun--so it says in my information I have on the effects to be aware

of when using these oils. I am not an expert on this by any means but have

gathered quite a bit of information from whereever I can so as to know

what

to expect when using them. We can't just go using these thing willy-nilly

and not be aware of the effects of some of them. It's like herbs, some are

great and don't cause any problems but there are side-effects to a lot of

them so you have to beware. This is getting to sound like a lecture but

I

don't mean it that way, we justs have to investigate these things. There

are

lip balm flavorings from a lot of suppliers and this is what I use just

to

be on the safe side. On the citrus side, I've used the orange and a blend

of

lemon & lime and both have turned out great and do hold their flavor. Have

a

great Sunday. Cheers, Sandy

Neil,

This is one of the reasons that it is good to use liquid colostrum. Most of

my clients have very serious and potentially terminal conditions. The

colostrum that I provide to them is liquid, and comes directly from the

source, a VMD who processes it whole, from the first milking. He is the

oldest processor of colostrum, and is affiliated with a major university. In

colostrum, quality is everything.

Another reason to use liquid colostrum, is because you get better absorption.

There are receptors in the epithelial cell layers in the oral mucosa, that

trigger the body to absorb the colostrum. In this way, the colostrum is

absorbed before it hits the gut and is consumed by the stomach acids and bile

salts.( which is what happens with capsules. The receptors also trigger the

production of hormones and enzymes in the saliva which protect the colostrum

material in the fundus of the stomach.

Colostrum is tricky, in that you need to know about the processing, in order

to know what you are getting. Most colostrum powder or capsules, have the

fat removed. That is bad because IGF 1, leptin, insulin, and immunogolbulin

structure are transported on fat molecules, so the fat serves as the

transport vehicle for these substances. Lack of it also decreases thymus,

alpha 1, and beta 4. When the fat is removed, you destroy the balance of the

material.

At any rate, you do not have the oxidized cholesterol with the liquid. There

are also lozenges made from this liquid, and they have only .00036 mg/g of

cholesterol at all. You get the same benefit from the lozenges as from the

liquid.

Colostrum is a wonderful supplement, and has a great effect on tissue. You

just need to be sure what you are getting.

I provide Poly MVA, among other things, to my clients. It is good, but yes,

it is expensive, and there are other supplements to use with it that are

important, so it becomes even more expensive. To my knowledge, there are not

any published studies at this point, althought there are anecdotals.

There are many other supplements, also, which are good to try, that act in

different manners.

Hi ,

you should get all the test results and post them here. welcome :)

Hello , I will certainly try to get them, military docs aren't real big on

letting you have any test results. but I maybe able to get them anyways....

You guys are so helpful, I have just been reading over all the posts, I do plan

on self medicating, I am tired of feeling like crap! The docs are going to run

more tests this week, he asked me to stop taking my DHEA, and all vitamins so

they can get out of my system, and they are going to test my testosterone

levels, my cholesterol levels, lipids, and DHEA levels. And he mentioned maybe I

had PCOS. Because in the last 30 months I have only had like 6 periods. I

thought it was simply because I was nursing, but I havent nursed myson in 6

months and still my periods are not happening.

Thanks to who ever started this group as I no you are all a God send!!!!!!!!!!!

tested for and that was the tsh and glucose....TSH was 1.922

and my glucose was 16. But I have asked my husband to pick up my medical records

today {due to an off base appt tomorrow} so I am hoping they will give them to

him and I can post the rest tonight

Thank you all very much

Have a blessed day!!

What about the all important healthy brain fats? Flaxseed oil, virgin

coconut oil, fish oil? DO you get enough in your diet? Are you hypoglycemic?

Grace

PLEASE find a well trained herbalist, a doctor of Chinese Medicine or a

Naturopathic physician to guide you.

I have a LIFETIME experience with herbs, and they are not all benign, so

get a few good book on dealing with epilepsy natrually, a few good herb books

so you can do your own homework, too.

Watch for interactions with the drugs.

No, not hypoglycemic. I get enough fats thru supplements. They don't bother

me. I tried the Atkins diet and got one of the worst seizures I ever had within

a few days or a week of it. And I've noticed over the years that when I eat too

much red meat or eggs it'll trigger one. I just can't cut the carbs and I do

eat a lot of them.

Hi , I have a treatment suggestion that is different. Have you ever considered something like Spring Forest QiGong to balance the energies in your body? Obviously for you the traditional methods are not working, therefore it may be time to step outside the traditional methods and try things that have been around for 100's of years. And of course you can stay doing all the other things your doctor recommends at the same time.

I am having good success with Spring Forest Qigong!

Hey Sister & Brother survivors. . .

I posted 'All About Me' when Amy began the Group and everyone knew 'all about

me'. . .

As for THE POST. . .I retracted in my post immediately following that one.

It was meant for a younger sister & brother survivor and 'my GOLD BRAIN' and

my 'multi-tasking' as I always do. . .In error, I forwarded the post to myself

and the Group in error; and the sister & brother survivor got the wrong posts. .

..

OH Well. . .at least I didn't REALLY put my foot in my mouth. . .hehehe. I

have learned my lesson about multi-tasking. . .because since my hospitalization.

.. .I have sent several posts/emails in error to my sister & brother survivors

and buddy's. I will be slowing down and checking everything. . .hehehe.

Take care, I have ALL in my prayers as always.

Hi K, it's been several years, but I was writing to a niece of mine and raving

and ranting about something, even putting in a few choice cuss words, and sent

it to a support site, instead of my niece... I was horrified because now they

would know I wasn't the nice old lady they thought I was !!!

But not so, the few that replied to it laughed and said now they knew I was

human after all, as well as a nice " old lady. " I'm a little more careful now ,

but maybe could use a little more discretion on how I phrase things...Bobby

Hey Group. . .

Per your post China, this was a 'hehehe' for Zavie, Tracey and others years

ago. . .

My son enlisted in the USAF 10 days before I was diagnosed, we knew that I was

ill, but thought it was a cold/flu/pneumonia. After I didn't die in the 2 months

that I was given by my diagnosing doctor. When my son came home, a buddy from

basic who lived in KZoo came home with him.

Aside to my son he said 'you didn't tell me that your Mom was caucsasian' . .

..

I believe this tops all talk about us loosing our 'colour' becoming pale. . .
