Guest guest
My 1y 10m old is supposed to take this test called H C G stimulation test. He was born with both testicles undecended and now one is down and maybe the other and he still has a hernia. We have a new doctor bc the other one retire, so we are kind of starting over. Now this doctor brings up wanting to run this test. It is one that will tell if the testicles are even functioning correctly, and if they aren't he wouldn't bother to make sure they are both down. Then he would just do the hernia. I got to thinking maybe this stuff they use has a preservative in it. I don't know. I have Googled this a little a minute ago, but it is all over my head. My baby is not vaccinated and I don't want to acidentally put something unnecessary in his body. He also is concerned that he has a narrow heart valve (pulmenary stenosis) that makes him concerned about operating at all. The doctor who retired didn't seem to have this concern. It is all so confusing. I thought things were getting better and now I have all of these new concerns. The doctor who retired was more concerned that he has Noonan's syndrome, but they couldn't find it even doing a micro array panel and all his other testing results showed his body was working correctly and the geneticts wasn't worried about him although he said he probably does has a syndrome, but he is meeting all milestones and not concerned. All these conflicting thoughts and interests and making me nervous. But, my reason for posting here is the preservative issue. If anyone is familar with the other issues I would be interested to hear from you as well. It is not a topic with a lot of info. out there like autism. I feel lost. Thanks, April
Guest guest
Do you work with a pediatrician or do you have appointments as needed with a pediatric endocrinologist? If possible, I'd work directly with the ped endo. Does your child have short stature? If so, I'd contact the Magic Foundation. They will point you in the right direction and work closely with every ped endo in the country. http://www.magicfoundation.org/www Sounds like the geneticist ruled out Noonan Syndrome, but are they doing tests to figure out just what your child does have? I did a quick check, but could not find a label for the HCG used for the stimulation test. You can contact the office to get a copy of the label to see what if any perservatives it contains. Not all biotech products have preservatives. According to one web page I read, the stim test uses a very small amount of the HCG. Ask the ped endo if he would perform the surgery without the stim test. Most ped endos will object to the request. If the answer is no, you may want to do the stim test anyway. It may help to determine what syndrome your child has. HTH But, my reason for posting here is the preservative issue.
