Guest guest
Hi everyone- I need some advice. Here in Maine we just had a very bad storm which left 4 inches of rain, then sleet then snow. That was friday. I ran out of one of my meds and had to get to the drug store. I slipped and fell on my hip. Needless to say, I was in alot of pain and the adrenaline from the fear of possibly breaking it, got me in the car, to the drug store and back. I got out the heating pad, and ice pack. Took extra prednisone and layed quiet for the day. My boyfriend spent 80 dollars on tickets to go see "A christmas carol" for a christmas present, and while I told him I fell, I minimized the trauma and promised I would go today. The play was at 2pm. I made myself get up, took extra meds, hot shower and dressed. I got down to the car and tried to get in the car but I felt a sharp stabbing pain go through my hip. Needless to say we never made it to the play. I have to call my RD monday and have an xray ordered. While the pain from the fall is bad, the pain from not being able to use the tickets hurts even more. Its a very rare occassion when my guy will go to the box office and try and get special accessible seats for me. I dont think the theatre will afford me any understanding here, but its so rarely I feel well enough to go anywhere at all. I wouldnt have been able to sit through it regardless because of the pain. Should I bother writing the theatre and asking them to honor them at another time? Thanks everyone for your advice. Deborah
Guest guest
Hi Deborah, It is absolutely worth a try. My husband and I were given $150 worth of TKTS credit (used to see Broadway/Off-Broadway shows) and there was no way I could go into NYC. When I was finally able, we realized the certificates had expired! My husband wrote explaining the situation and they gave us new certificates. It is so hard to buy tickets and make plans for things you must pay for in advance, you just never know how you're going to be! Another time I was going to take my mom through a tour of gardens on an estate. I knew the tickets were non-refundable but I took the chance that I would be well enough. Well, I wasn't and I called up, already so upset with being too sick to go and knowing that I might have to give up on my $18. I called and explained that I was just too sick and the woman told me that she was sorry but they were non-refundable. " But I have a disease! " , I cried. Normally I wouldn't say that but it just came out and the woman felt sorry for me and said that she could get in trouble for doing this but she was going to change my reservation for another weekend, which I was able to go to! So, yes go for it! > > Hi everyone- I need some advice. Here in Maine we just had a very bad storm > which left 4 inches of rain, then sleet then snow. That was friday.
