Guest guest
I can not comment on the taurine - but my guy was a light, took forever to get to sleep guy. His mind doesn't shut off at night and he would here a storm coming I swear! Enzymes, was amazing. Slept through storms for the first time. We were amazed. I think the parasite protocol helped, got to do another. Never seen anything, he told me he felt better. Also, melatonin on school nights helps him get to sleep right away and seems better rested in the a.m. Tammy [ ] Taurine/Seizures why does taurine help calm seizures down and help a child get to sleep, if it is not an anti-convulsant? Is the child REALLY getting a good nights sleep if this is the case? My child looks like she is sleeping but still has no focus AT ALL in the morning... so I am wondering if her brain is really calming down?? Any advice? Guest guest
Taurine is a neuroinhibitory amino acid which, like GABA, helps to supress the release of excitatory neurotransmitters. B6 is necessary to form taurine from cysteine and since B6 is typically deficient in our diet, I see a lot of taurine deficiencies especially in children. Another area where taurine benefits seizures is that it helps stabilize nerve cell membranes. It also helps increase the rate of action of glutamate decarboxylase which helps break down glutamic acid which is a known neuroexcitatory amino acid that can increase seizure activity. Hope this helps. Mark Schauss www.toxicworldbook.com > > why does taurine help calm seizures down and help a child get to sleep, if it is not an anti-convulsant? Guest guest
I give taurine but not so much for " calming down " as for liver support and fat metabolism. For sleep we used a multipronged approach and it took awhile. We used melatonin for falling asleep, 5HTP for staying asleep and " calm " during the day, we had to treat parasites, we used NAET for allergies, psychological therapy for emotional stuff along with energy work and Bach flower remedies (my son also had PTSD and sleep terrors), and homeopathy was the final piece. For us coffea crudea was the rememdy that shut the mind down for sleep. > > why does taurine help calm seizures down and help a child get to sleep, if it is not an anti-convulsant?
