Guest guest
I am baffled by our most recent stool test for our four year old. The only " dysbiosis " noted was the yeast, Saccharomyces Boulardii! We have been using New Beginnings Probiotic Support which, in addition to a broad spectrum probiotic (18 billion CFU per cap), contains 2 billion Sacc B. We were giving 2-3 of these at night. Clostridium spp. did also show up as a +2 out of a possible +4, but it is not the C. Diff. strain, so we still don't know which it is since the standard microbiology stool test doesn't look for other strains. Anyway, our DAN! suggested backing off the Sacc. B. for a while and Doctor's Data (who did the test) thought it showed up, because it was just too high. No other yeast or bacteria showed up, although he did have an imbalance of hymolytic e.coli and hemolytic strep, but not dysbiotic. I am wondering, if the Sacc. B. prevented these and the clostridia from getting worse, but I don't know how I would know that. His stools are perfect, his mood swings are still there, but not nearly as bad as they used to be....what if backing off allows the clostridia to overgrow again? Since I stopped the Sacc. B. the only probiotic he is getting now is 6 billion Lactobacilis (Culturelle) until the order I placed for Custom Probiotics arrives. His stool test showed no growth for any of the Lactobacilis strains...even though I give him tens of billions of them nightly. So could the Sacc. B. be responsible for taking up too much space, not allowing it to grow or is something else going on? I am just so confused since this strain of probiotic is pushed as a non-pathogenic yeast, helpful in addressing intestinal imbalances, yet Doctor's Data considers it dysbiotic...should I continue it at lower doses....could it really be dysbiotic? Help, I'm lost and don't want to reverse the progress we have seen.
