Guest guest
Can anyone comment on either the need for iron supplementation AND/OR the lipoic acid content of a food based vitamin? Thanks! Teraza From: [mailto: ] On Behalf Of and Teraza Real Sent: Tuesday, February 09, 2010 8:18 AM Subject: [ ] anyone see anything wrong with this iron supplement? http://www.iherb.com/Mega-Food-DailyFoods-Blood-Builder-90-Tablets/3995?at=0 I ordered this as my iron is really low and I am pregnant and thought it may be the best to try as its food based (I have been doing vitamin C and eating out of cast iron the entire pregnancy but my iron keeps dropping). I know there is some controversy in the iron supplement arena but I don't think its probably good that I go into birth/postpartum as anemic as I am getting.. unless I am wrong. The MAIN CONCERN is that although it doesn't say on the site, the actual bottle says contains naturally occurring glutathione and lipoic acid.. and that's the problem.. is naturally occurring lipoic acid in the Fe supplement dangerous and should I find something else? Here are my labs Iron 8 (12-31) TIBC 47 (40-77) Transferrin saturation 0.17 (0.2-0.55) ferritin 24 (12-200)
Guest guest
I love food-based vitamins, this brand in particular, and my personal opinion is that naturally occuring lipoic acid in food would be in such small amounts that it would not chelate enough to require taking it on a timed schedule. Make sure you are getting enough magnesium too. Deep breathing exercises would also be very good for you. Guest guest
Hi Tereza It's seems like a lot of iron to take in one go to me. The below might be of some interest. http://www.healthy.net/scr/Column.aspx?Id=68 All the best Kenny > > Can anyone comment on either the need for iron supplementation AND/OR the > lipoic acid content of a food based vitamin? > > > > Thanks! > > Teraza > > > > From: [mailto: ] > On Behalf Of and Teraza Real > Sent: Tuesday, February 09, 2010 8:18 AM > > Subject: [ ] anyone see anything wrong with this iron > supplement? > > > > > > http://www.iherb.com/Mega-Food-DailyFoods-Blood-Builder-90-Tablets/3995?at=0 > > I ordered this as my iron is really low and I am pregnant and thought it may > be the best to try as its food based (I have been doing vitamin C and eating > out of cast iron the entire pregnancy but my iron keeps dropping).
