Guest guest
Whey protein is in casein. Avoid it for CF From: Luce <williamjlucejr@...> Subject: Re: [ ] Re: Dana-Amino Acids: Better to provide individual Amino Acids or not? 4/26 Is whey protein GFCF?? --
Guest guest
Dana, I was looking at the Jay Robb brand of whey protein. It has very high amounts of amino acids per serving - doesn't this create problems? Also, it has high levels of aspartame and glutamine which can cause problems for high ammonia kids (the glutamine). Is there something else I could use? --- Στις Δευτ., 26/04/10, ο/η danasview <danasview@...> ÎγÏαψε: Από: danasview <danasview@...> ΘÎμα: [ ] Re: Dana-Amino Acids: Better to provide individual Amino Acids or not? It has very high amounts of amino acids per serving - doesn't this create problems? It didn't for my son. Also, the scoop that is included in the jar is large, probably 1/4 cup. That is probably what they are referencing for a serving. So just don't use that much. You can also buy rice protein powder and pea protein powder [both of which were very bad intolerances for my son], see if either of those work better for you. Guest guest
Dana,  How did you know he was intolerant to these? That is one of my biggest questions? How to know if something is a problem? Another is how do you know if they need something? Trial and error? What about the amino acids? How do you know what to give? Was that the reason for the whey protein? A lot of questions I know.  I have been trying to figure this out since Christmas. My son had an MRI a couple of weeks ago at the local hospital. Came home with a cut in his head and not able to walk for a couple of days because of the soreness. They found nothing. Yesterday an EEG. They found nothing. They said what I was describing was temporal lobe seizures, but didn't find anything. In the meantime, I had started giving a tiny amount of Taurine in the mornings along with some CLO, B complex, and ACE and the violence had calmed down. He missed these yesterday because of the test and last night had another incident.  Thanks, Drissia From: danasview <danasview@...> Subject: [ ] Re: Dana-Amino Acids: Better to provide individual Amino Acids or not?
