Guest guest
So true! I have a friend that makes jams and she used to use Splenda, then switched to zylitol. It tastes soooooo good. I tried some peach jam she made and thought it would ok because I was able to eat a fresh peach with no problem. Well, it tasted wonderful but I got terrible oral thrush and weeping sores on my face, etc, etc. Guess the fruit sugars must change when cooked and unfortunately I won't be able to eat anything like that for some time But you can't tell the difference between the taste of sugar or xylitol. Guest guest
I only became aware that I had it about 6 months ago. I don't know how long I may have had it and not been aware of it. In fact I never knew anything about it until I got oral thrush and started doing research on that. I had a lot digestive problems for the past 15 years so I'm thinking maybe that's when it started. Who knows. I got pretty sick last year so it was probably rearing it's ugly head then, but I didn't realize it . I have only been taking the oil of oregano extract. Since I have oral thrush I put drops under my tongue when it's bad. I was taking grapefruit seed extract. I don't know if it was doing anything or not though. I recently stopped taking that and started taking a supplement with caprylic acid, pau d'arco and some other stuff in it. Don't know if it will help, but I keep trying. I don't go to doctors and can't afford to go to a naturopath - plus there's only one in my area. I stick to the candida diet and take all the recommended supplements and recently started taking the undenatured whey and a few other supplements that have been recommended on this forum. Guest guest
Gail You need to find some probiotics to put the right fungus back into your system if you don't it will keep recurring and oil of oregano will help but you will get use to it there are some other things to try besides that. Have you lost any weight with it? If you have that is a sign that you are killing it. I can give you what I am taking and you can go to any health food store and you can try it. Guest guest
I have been taking probiotics along with anti-fungals and many other supplements. I lost 25 lbs as I've talked about in other posts. I still don't think I am digesting properly and have been taking digestive enzymes but don't see any improvement. And also have been constipated the past 5 mo and no matter what I try can't " go " without taking something to help. Anyway, thanks for your advice. Guest guest
Hi Gail Have you looked into the possibility that something you are eating is causing your constipation? My husband and I have IBS and if we eat a food that triggers it, we are constipated for a couple of days. Guest guest
If I am, I don't know what it could be. I only eat meat, fowl, fish, vegetables (only Candida recommended ones), eggs, butter, etc. Doesn't seem to be any difference from day to day no matter what I have eaten. Nothing moves Thanks. Guest guest
Do you eat a lot of animal fat? That does it for us in the worst possible way. Try cutting out the eggs, butter and animal fat for a week (eat only chicken and turkey breast and ostrich). Try adding a small amount of brown rice to your diet instead of the animal fat. Hopefully that will help. Keen Re: Xylitol If I am, I don't know what it could be. Guest guest
I'd starve to death . I eat a fair amount of animal fat though not as much as when I first started the diet. I try to alternate and maybe one day red meats, next chicken, then fish, etc. I tried a small amt of brown rice once and it made me bloated so I don't want to try that again. I'll cut back a bit on the red meat but don't think I can cut it out totally. I probably eat eggs every other day or two cause I started getting sick of them. But I can't cut out the butter. It's one of the few things that makes my bland veggies and some other foods " tasty. " Plus I think the eggs and butter are supposed to be really good for you aren't they? I appreciate your suggestions. Gail > > Do you eat a lot of animal fat? That does it for us in the worst > possible way. Guest guest
Sorry for the delay in replying, I was on leave until today. Happy New Year to all. Animal fats may be what is causing your severe constipation. Yes, eggs and butter are good for you, but if you are not digesting them, then that may be the cause of your problem. I know what it is like, we first could eat nearly nothing (broccoli and brown rice until we couldn't face either), but we have managed to increase what we eat now. You should try cutting out certain foods and see if you can trace the reason for your constipation. Good luck. Keen Re: Xylitol I'd starve to death . Guest guest
, If you check this location on the www.dadamo.com site http://www.dadamo.com/typebase4/typeindexer.htm you'll see that xylitol has not been tested and added to the list of sweeteners. I've known non-secretors who used it and wouldn't use anything else. I have been told it is a cavity fighter, and if so it would be good for your teeth too. > > Hi .. > > I'm new to this group.. > I am a type O > I have just had my saliva test done in a lab here in Oz and I am a > non secretor .. > > I have Have " Eat Right " and also " Live Right " so I have pretty much > all the information I need except that I can't seem to find any > reference to xylitol ..whether it is a neutral or an avoid > > FYI..xylitol is a natural sweetener made from birch bark which tastes > just like sugar. > > I would welcome any information on this .. > Many thanks > dacey >
Guest guest
Thank you That was about the only thing I couldn't find .. The " Live Right " book I have has so much more information in it than the " Eat Right " book .. especially secretor and non secretor food lists.. a lot of thing have chnged in the second book... Guest guest
Thank You I guess I will continue to use it until I know otherwise.. Does anyone have the " LiveRight " book...? I'm surprised by some of the changes in it from the Eat right book..which is what most people are going by I would think.. For instance in EatRight ..avocado was an AVOID for Type O (Listed as a vegetable) In Live Right it's a beneficial for non secretors (me) ??...I supose that it's later research ?? Guest guest
Da Dacey, Yes, it was later research. The latest available is posted on the website, so we can keep up with the changes. There is a lot more information in Live Right, and more and different information in the Encyclopedia, which was published still later. > > > Thank You > I guess I will continue to use it until I know otherwise.. > Does anyone have the " LiveRight " book...? > I'm surprised by some of the changes in it from the Eat right > book..which is what most people are going by I would think.. > For instance in EatRight ..avocado was an AVOID for Type O (Listed as > a vegetable) > In Live Right it's a beneficial for non secretors (me) > ??...I supose that it's later research ?? > Dacey > > >
Guest guest
Thank you I'm pleased to see that my local library has all the D'Damo books so I have reserved them.. including the encyclopedia ... I've managed to cut out everything on the avoid list ...even my opne peice of GF bread a day ... sigh ..except for two weak teas and two weak coffees a day..both with two teaspoons of cream (which I am hoping is close to butter and better than milk)...and 70g of plain yoghurt in the am... baby steps with these.. What's " good " about it (for the teeth)? The only think I know of that is good for teeth, is Nori (or other good iodine source.) Iodine and fluoride are related due to their position on the periodic table of elements - which means the body handles them similarly due ro similar chemical structure and reactivity. However it does not mean that either one is appropriate. The problem is that we tend to be short of iodine - especially in USA where the soil is old and leached out - and we eat too little fish - and the body " sees " fluoride as similar (in structure and reactions) to iodine and will absorb it instead IF there is no iodine. Sadly it will not get rid of the fluoride once you supply iodine. It's like a one-way swap valve. It's a oneway thing where fluoride can replace iodine but not the other way round - the fluoride is actually toxic - it's due to iodine similarity that fluoride has a strengthening effect on teeth - but it also mottles them etc and is badly toxic to the thyroid as fluoride there does not function as iodine does. So the correct mineral the body is designed to use - for both teeth and thyroid (and other functions) is iodine. Just as with heavy metal toxicity - so also fluoride can not be replaced by iodine once absorbed - only fluoride being heavier, can replace iodine. So it pays to give ourselves the iodine we need and of course to avoid fluoride toxicity) - and I like nori as a source of iodine without sodium excess - and of course it is good to avoid toxic heavier elements whether fluoride or heavy metals. Guest guest
It has been 'proven' to deter the build up of plaque on the teeth. I have not read the research, but that is what I have been led to believe. This is one of many sites talking about the benefits of xylitol for your teeth. Tom's of Maine even puts it in their toothpaste. http://www.xylitol.org/ Kate
Guest guest
I've heard about this before and I completly agree. One thing you need to keep in mind, though, is not to over do it with the iodine because too much has been found to cause acne. The ODA (Optimal Daily Allowance) for both men and women is 150 mcg. > It's the real way teeth get stronger as opposed to the mistake > conventional medicine makes by using toxic fluoride. > Iodine and fluoride are related due to their position on the periodic > table of elements - which means the body handles them similarly due > ro similar chemical structure and reactivity. Guest guest
There is nothing wrong with baby steps. That is one of the ways some of us have made the changes. Some still have some steps to go periodically after we have slipped up a bit. Just keep taking those steps and keep up with the Dadamo site list to stay up to date. > > I've managed to cut out everything on the avoid list ...even my opne > peice of GF bread a day ... sigh ..except for two weak teas and two > weak coffees a day..both with two teaspoons of cream (which I am > hoping is close to butter and better than milk)...and 70g of plain > yoghurt in the am... baby steps with these..
