Guest guest
Irene I'm not sure if you are a fan on Benadryl, I guess I've had my share of allergic reactions, body soaps, poison ivy, and honestly, it's been my sons best friend when trying to figure out his food allergies. I'd dose the Benadryl and if it goes away, you know it's an allergic reaction. My son was like 9 months old when he got his allergic reaction to soy formula, rash on his torso. It can take a couples days for the body to settle down after. Could he be allergic to soy, his CLO now? We were on chewable Houston Enzymes and then out of the blue and full body rash. Finally had a reaction to the " fruity " flavoring, he has fruit allergy issues. So it can just appear and be too much then boom. Back off, add one by one. I did that with the enzymes, rash right away. That happen to me with a bath gel. I backed away and when I found it, boy, JACKPOT! Good luck! Tammy [ ] Toxicity rash? - Dana and others I wondered whether you, Dana, or others could help me. My son has gotten a red, itchy scaly rash on a lot of his torso, legs and shoulders. It started out a little on the legs and has spread. In the past he gets this or something similar with too much vitamin A. So I stopped his CLO - which was really only at the RDA level now. But he had been A toxic for a long time, almost a year before this. He has been taking the low dose without a problem for a few months. Suspecting the CLO, I stopped it about 4 days ago. The rash just seems to get worse. I put a topical cream on it which has worked in the past for eczema itchy type outbreaks before, last night. This morning his skin seemed better. After two doses of his daily meds today he is just as itchy and scaly. I even gave activated charcoal last night thinking maybe it could be a dietary infraction - however we have strictly controlled what he has eaten lately. I wonder if it could be too much vitamin D - he tested as very low 3 months ago so (about 40 I think) so we upped his D from 2000 iu a day to 5000 iu a day. I wondered whether this rash could be from too much D - although from what I have read this type of rash does not result from too much D. Has Dana or anyone else experienced something similar? Should I suspend giving him all supplemental D for a few days to see if the rash goes away? I have lowered it now to 3000 iu, but hate to lower it in the cold and flu season. Or can it be the A rash just be taking longer to go away. Lately we have scaled down most supps - and taken things away - the only thing that has changed has been the D. He is on Armour - but he has been on that for 2 months now - so I doubt that is it. Would appreciate any thoughts. Thanks. Irene

I can't give my son more than one drop of CLO 1x per week, or he will reach toxicity. > Suspecting the CLO, I stopped it about 4 days ago. The rash just seems to get worse. Do you give him any carotene foods? I have read a few emails of people whose children's bodies overconverted carotenes into vitamin A, even tho the body is only supposed to convert what it needs. >>I put a topical cream on it which has worked in the past for eczema itchy type outbreaks before, last night. If he no longer needs it, it could be this also. Oddly, there are a few supplements that I no longer need, and when I take them now, they cause me to have a histamine reaction -- stuffy nose, watery eyes, lots of sneezing, etc. So sometimes the body's reaction can be an odd, unusual reaction, once you no longer need something.
