Pros ALA only:

Less " yeast "

No neutropenia

Cheaper

Cons:

Possibly slower excretion(Andy says up to 30% probably far less)

Different, sometimes more side effects

If you don't tolerate it there's no reason to continue taking DMSA when DMPS is

available or just ALA alone. I use ALA alone because neutrophils were lower than

they should be. ALA is the powerful chelator that gets you better, not DMSA.

together? I currently give my daughter ALA and DMSA but am wondering if giving

ALA only would be better for her since she seems so wiped out all the time(often

she just lays on the ground) and she has major yeast symptoms. I know DMSA can

reduce neutrophils which would lower the body's resistance to yeast.

Pros:

Easier, cheaper, no worry about neutrophils.

Cons:

for some, more side effects, theoretical arguments suggest DMSA may speed things

up SLIGHTLY, if lead is a problem ALA is not known to remove it.

Realistically speaking, the way to find out is try it.
