Guest guest
Hi everyone, I would like to see if caffeine helps my 9 yr old focus/attend. How do I do that? What do I use and how much? Thanks! I've heard such horrendous things about our local Children's Hospital regarding the ASD and Psych Depts so I'm again looking at alternatives to the medication eval I asked about last week. Since he is on straight Title IXX for insurance we are quite restricted in our options. Pam
Guest guest
Hi Pam, Why not try " coffee " in moderation, more logically in the morning? We did, and found that to be reasonably effective. Take that approach step-by-step (from small amounts to greater amounts until you find your optimum benefit, or equilibrium, of health?) as you would (or should?) anything you'd typically try, of being so cautious and safe by such approach, I'd recommend, generally speaking. Where you'd deviate from such approach I'd recommend being under the care of an expert in that respect, (of someone who's been there and done it?) where you'd be willing to take such risk, deviating from what is so reasonable (as a general guideline) I would say of as much. How much coffee or caffeine would work in your situation would be relative to your individual situation or condition is my feeling on that, of, I feel that approach accomodates as much, that anything could be more *just,* but I don't think so, except perhaps by saying that it's all about understanding more for our selves by as much, as that's sort of how communication works best for all that so meaningfully exists, as I have found for my self. Mike Glavic On The Communication Approach. Don't go so much with anything else, I especially recommend, for the results we can and have achieved by as much, (for as much? or? what? else?) I Feel as understand, that that wouldn't be of such performance, that any other performance should matter. That justice should matter. That I can't take care of my self (sheesh?) Yes, I'm quite the coffee-drinker myself. I just had a few.. . > > Hi everyone, > > I would like to see if caffeine helps my 9 yr old focus/attend. How do I do that? Guest guest
I have thought of giving him coffee, but my initial thought is he'd refuse it based on smell and taste. I could try to hide it in hot chocolate, but I was trying to avoid the sugar (which is also why I didn't opt for caffeinated soda). I definitely find caffeine helps me focus. What doesn't work is to drink coffee past noon or else I have trouble sleeping. I *really* don't want to add that to my list of issues with my son! I appreciate the help. Guest guest
You're welcome. I'm just trying to help you avoid the bias and cost (and abuses, and losses) typically associated with going with professionals and politicians, (of such experts, no less) where you can avoid that, as towards what you can try first for your self, to getting y/our life (our lives?) on the *right* (Volunteer? more meaningful, to me) track, Thereof, of Communication (Feeling that I *understand* what that is.. . Don't let anyone tell you that isn't communication because of the language it is, and it isn't?!. or whatever.. . You'll Know It when you Feel It? but what else.. . of such protocol?!. Best wishes in that respect. Mike On coffee? .. . Oh, and *oh,* so much more.. . I Feel as Understand, of Communication. It's what I do. I wish as much for Us. (In case you were wondering, about as much Bonus answer?!. BWT > > > > > > Hi everyone, > > > > > > I would like to see if caffeine helps my 9 yr old focus/attend. How do I do that? Guest guest
Hi Pam Black tea also contains a considerable amount of caffeine, and w some hoeny and a cinammon stick, it sure tastes great, even cold! I use organic german tea and I cook it the traditional north-german way. If u want it to be rather calming, let it sit for 3 mins, for more caffeine content, let is sip for 5 mins. Just be careful to brush little teeth afterwards since tea stains a lot. Guest guest
I would look for some caffeine tablets that have few or no other ingredients, so you can be sure any effects are due to caffeine. If you do use coffee, remember it is sulfury and will feed yeast (for me the yeast effect would be apparent several hours after drinking it). Tea is not sulfury. I started drinking iced tea when I was maybe 7 or 8. It helped a lot and it would have been interesting if I could have had it in school, but my mom told me it would stunt my growth and didn't want me to drink it all the time. It certainly helped me with energy and alertness, maybe attention too. -- > > Hi everyone, > > I would like to see if caffeine helps my 9 yr old focus/attend. How do I do that? Guest guest
Why not try good organic tea with a bit of raw honey? Yerba Mate has a caffeine effect (I know, I depend on it to keep ME going, come afternoon while homeschooling) and Holy Basil (or Tulsi) type tea has a blend that contains caffeine that tastes quite good on it's own. Black or green tea itself will offer a boost. My understanding is that teas offer caffeine in a gentler but longer lasting form - ? Scientifically this may or may not be accurate - I believe I read it in a book on food chemistry. > > > > > > Hi everyone, > > > > > > I would like to see if caffeine helps my 9 yr old focus/attend. Guest guest
What I have read over the past few days leads me to think I will need to use a caffeine tablet to get the amount of caffeine necessary to have an effect on someone with true ADHD or ADD level issues. We are talking 100-250 mgs caffeine. Thanks for the suggestions. Sadly, my son doesn't like the taste of honey at all (I love it!). I have taken an honest look at my son's behaviors this past week. He really would benefit from some intervention. I wish I could do this without a pill, but my hope is we can use this short term as chelation continues to correct the problem. Whether it is a caffeine tablet or pharmaceutical, they still carry risk or side effects. Guest guest
Is there something wrong with using herbs and vitamins like inostiol and GABA? Focus Factor maybe...? Caffeine is very bad for the adrenals. > > > > > > > > > > Hi everyone, > > > > > > > > > > I would like to see if caffeine helps my 9 yr old focus/attend. How do I do that?
