Guest guest
, Â I have often wondered about mercury for my son, but all of his blood work has tested negative for both mercury and lead. I talked with the pediatrician about a hair test but he felt that exposure would have been so many years ago that it would be long gone by now, especiallly in the light of not having any traces in the blood. Â My son, now 17, has had no fillings but I have a lot. In fact, while pregnant with him, I had a filling done as well as a gum abscess which was treated in the dentist office. As a child he had a direct exposure to a broken thermometer at his grandparents house, which I didn't know about until 2 years later. He had all vaccines until the last one which reacted so badly. He has severe autism; originally diagnoses with autism(atypical) but continued to regress until the diagnosis was modified. He has had OCD for many years, but he has had several bouts of strep and a lifetime of ear infections, sinus infections and antibiotics. Â Does this sound like I need to seriously consider mercury, even though the tests have come up negative several times? I would like to help him if I can. Â Thanks for your insight. Â D. Does/did the mother have any mercury amalgam dental fillings? Did she receive any vaccines? Mercury passes the placenta. Do they live down-wind from a coal-fired power plant? What about other toxic metals? Diet would be a good place to start, more whole foods and less processed stuff (particularly less white flour, white bread, white sugar, sodas). He was never vaccinated, has no amalgams, and has no autism symptoms. I've told her it may be a nutrient problem but am unsure what to recommend. Guest guest
A DAN recently told me that when mercury tests come up negative that could be a sign that he is not properly excreting the metal. In other words, we should have a certain amount appear on a test to show that our body is working the way it should in eliminating theses toxins. http://aydansrecovery.blogspot.com/2009_08_01_archive.html From: Shepard Salzer <_Shepard@ excite.com> Subject: [ ] Re: OCD supplements for non-mercury boy? autism treatment Date: Saturday, February 20, 2010, 8:31 PM  , I wouldn't rule out mercury without a hair test and counting rules. Posted by: " drissia wright " ritzywright ritzywright Sat Feb 20, 2010 6:50 pm (PST) , I have often wondered about mercury for my son, but all of his blood work has tested negative for both mercury and lead. *Blood work is useless for chronic mercury and lead toxicity. They don't stay in the blood long. The lead quickly moves into the brain and bones and the mercury goes into various organs. I talked with the pediatrician about a hair test but he felt that exposure would have been so many years ago that it would be long gone by now, especiallly in the light of not having any traces in the blood. *Hence the counting rules for the DDI hair elements test. You can order one without a doc through DLS (Direct Lab Services). If you mention this list they'll give you a discount. If you post results here we can help interpret. Mercury causes disordered mineral transport which is what the counting rules looks for. My son, now 17, has had no fillings but I have a lot. In fact, while pregnant with him, I had a filling done as well as a gum abscess which was treated in the dentist office. As a child he had a direct exposure to a broken thermometer at his grandparents house, which I didn't know about until 2 years later. He had all vaccines until the last one which reacted so badly. Does this sound like I need to seriously consider mercury, even though the tests have come up negative several times? I would like to help him if I can. *Seriously consider a DDI hair elements test. It will help you determine what you're dealing with whether mercury or other toxic metals. Thanks for your insight.
