Guest guest
Hi My son Luke is going through a dip at the moment and I am trying to work out what it is. He has been doing so well for many months, but in the last couple of month has started to go downhill. The main symptoms are: 1. Head is constantly full of thoughts. He has always gone through different fads of things he likes, but these have started to become obsessive in that he can’t seem to get them out of his head. One day he got into his head that his eyeball was going to fall out of the socket and must have asked me 100+ times “is my eye ok” and constantly touched his eyes all day to check they were still there! This has gradually subsided over the last few days. 2. Started sleeping poorly. Takes ages to get to sleep and then wakes early hours of morning 3. Loss of concentration – big dip in his school performance – tells me that he finds it hard to concentrate – despite the fact that he wants to do well 4. Much more vocal – humming etc. Even when I was giving him a massage tonight he kept starting to hum – it was like he couldn’t help it 5. More jumping up and down and banging his chest on occasions 6. Starting to get dark rings under eyes – though that may be lack of sleep I read an article in Autism file the other night which talked about strep/PANDAS and the symptoms seemed to resonate with Luke’s behaviours. I have started giving olive leaf extract and Artemisia (1 cap once a day) as I have read that may help? Has anyone else had to deal with this? Do you think it could be strep/PANDAS? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I have got a phone consultation with Dr Usman on 12th July and intend to get a load of tests done to try and work out what is going on – but in the meantime is there anything else I can do? Thanks Nicola __________________________________________________________ > >> > > > > > http://clk.atdmt.com/UKM/go/195013117/direct/01/ > >> <http://clk.atdmt.com/UKM/go/195013117/direct/01/> > >> > > > > > > >> > > > > > >> > > > > > >> > > > > > >> > > > > >> > > > >> > > >> > >> > >> > >> ---------------------------------------------------------- > >> > >> > >> Internal Virus Database is out of date. > >> Checked by AVG - www.avg.com > >> Version: 8.5.437 / Virus Database: 271.1.1/2944 - Release Date: 06/17/10 11:33:00 > >> > >> > > > > > > > > ------------------------------------ > > > > DISCLAIMER > > No information contained in this post is to be construed as medical advice. Guest guest
Nicola, I'm not sure about strep/pandas ....but high histamine has been the cause of some behaviour changes here and in particular ocd type behaviour....anti histamine (OTC Clarytn)has helped alongside pulling out high histamine foods... Not sure if this helps but with the pollen count being so very high this year its a possibility...... . > > Hi > > My son Luke is going through a dip at the moment and I am trying to work out > what it is. Guest guest
Hi That’s really interesting – I had never thought of histamine, although I had been reading the posts. Wouldn’t he have other hay fever like symptoms? Guest guest
sorry, is that GSE- grapefruit seed extract, goldenseal extract or grape seed extract? thanks! > > > Hi Dana > > > Ive been reading your replies on the strep topic and am very interested as my 3 yr old son had 2+ alpha haem.strep in his CDSA. 9 months ago .At the time he did not have strep issues but in the last few weeks since starting enhansa/valtrex he has developed alot of tics. > > > > > > Many parents have discovered that Enhansa will actually *increase* yeast if the child has latent viruses. Guest guest
> sorry, is that GSE- grapefruit seed extract, goldenseal extract or grape seed extract? thanks! GSE is the abbreviation for grapefruit seed extract. The bottle will have GSE on the front in large letters. Dana
Guest guest
Is there an accurate test that you can do without a doctor's order for strep (PANDAS)? If so, where can I find this? Also, if my child does test positive, what is the best way to treat it? Thank you, Margaret
