Guest guest
I am also seeing that taurine can increase GABA. If this makes GABA too high (and especially if my excitatory neurotransmitters are also high), I think it can cause the hyperactivity/nervousness I was feeling. Has anyone had a problem with taurine? I am going to take my NAC tonight to make sure is wasn't that. I have always noticed benefits from NAC in the past. -Olif
Guest guest
My son does well with taurine and with sulfur foods. I gave him a small trial of NAC this week thinking like you that NAC should be fine and helpful for him. I gave 25mg with lunch and 25mg with dinner. By nightfall he was a weepy, hysterical mess, melting down and having tantrums- much the way he used to in the early days of chelation before we started supporting his adrenals. When I begged him to stop his tantrum- he told me to " shut the heck up " / he never talks this way. We stopped the NAC and he returned to his calm and happy self. There is no way to know unless you try the stuff. I believe there are posts in the archives from Andy where he does say there is a significant number of even those kids with low plasma cysteine who react negatively to NAC. Guest guest
Thx Irene. Guess there is only one way to find out then. Will look out for behavior change. > > > > Hi > > > > Wondering if the child is doing ok with taurine, does that mean he will be able to tolerate NAC? both contain sulfur? > > > > Thx > > >
Guest guest
I want to ask something about taurine. my son is sensitive to sulfur acording to a test, but still he tolerates broccoli very well, he loves it, and there is no difference in behavior, the same with the epsom salts, so I'm going to check how he does with taurine, the reason I want to give him it is because, about 3 weeks ago i read someone saying that the taurine made his sons stools brown when nothing he tried did, my kid never had a real BM issue, but since he started supplementation and diet, he " lost the color " of the stool, that drives me crazy because to me means that there is no absorbtion of nutrients, but everything seems to be digested but with a brown yellowish color, when before the diet and the supernuthera(not on it anymore) the stools were brown. So any inputs in the color change will be realy appreciated. Guest guest
No I don't think that there is any relevance here. Taurine is a sulfur that does not raise thiol levels where as NAC is likely to. NAC might be good for some but quite bad for others. I'm sure Andy has said something along the lines of the above a few times. A sulfur exclusion diet as laid out below is probably the most relevant guide of whether NAC will help or be a problem other than trying it and hoping it does'nt turn out too disastrous. http://livingnetwork.co.za/chelationnetwork/food/high-sulfur-sulphur-food-list/ Kenny > > Hi > > Wondering if the child is doing ok with taurine, does that mean he will be able to tolerate NAC? both contain sulfur? > > Thx >
