Guest guest
Hi, I am chelating (therapeutic trial, no tests to confirm mercury) my three children (son 5 1/2, twins 2.5 years). My five year old and one twin are responding excellently to chelating. Based on the results of those two, I am fairly confident that mercury is a problem. My other little girl was respondning well until the fourth round when I (foolishly) began giving her kefir instead of her SCD milk. I gave her three glasses of kefir a day. I realized later that I was overstressing her system. Her response went downhill after that. Yeast is a big problem and she has been scratching her vaginal area. (We are 15 months on SCD). Her eyes are dilated again and she is hardly sleeping at all. I went ahead and had a liver/kidney test to see how things are in that deparment. Here are the doctor's comments on the results: " Liver tests are completely normal. Kidney test is the creatinine, it was normal. The BUN (blood urea nitrogen) was a little elevated. Generally this is nothing to be concerned about especially since the creatinine is normal. Not sure if ALA has any impact on this or if the detox does either. White blood count was just below the normal range. Again, often this is a marker of a system under stress. Hard to know if it is increasing or staying low with what you are doing, so repeating it in 3 months is a good idea. " Please help me interpret this in light of mercury toxicity. Aren't these two discrepencies evidence of mercury? Should I stop chelating completely until the tests come back normal? I believe she had issues in this area way prior to chelating. I was hoping the chelation would help normalize her...but obviously I am not interested in risking her kidney funtion. Please advise. Guest guest
I think the main points in your mail are when you say that the kids were responding well. Lab tests can be eroneous at best. They are a snapshot in time. Make sure your dose is low and frequent and you will be fine. You didn't mention a few things. - AC protocol? - Dosage? in mg please. - ALA or DMSA, or both? Guest guest
AC protocol, every 2.5 to 3 hours. 5 mg of ALA only Thanks for your insight. Today I checked with the doc to verify that the pediatric ranges were used for test interpretation and he wasn' sure! Waiting for a fax from him so I can look at the numbers myself. > > I think the main points in your mail are when you say that the kids were > responding well. > Lab tests can be eroneous at best. Guest guest
Sounds like you are just having a yeast issue. Maybe try upping the yeast protocol. We use GSE and Biotin. - Andy will tell you that low and frequent dosing of ALA will not stress the Liver or Kidneys. What is the length of the rounds? Are you doing 3 on and 4 off? Guest guest
You may be right. Yeast had been fairly well managed prior to starting chelation, but it was still a problem. I started her on 15 drops of OLE five times daily yesterday and I am seeing improvements. I was really hoping that someone WOULD tell me that low/frequent ALA will not stress the liver or kidneys. I was very worried that the chelation had harmed her. I worried about her kidney fucntion prior to chelating b/c she is one to urinate frequently and enormous amounts. I was doing 3 on 4 off for all three kids, but Lily's reaction was so bad on round 4 that we only went about 30 hours for round 4 and again on round 5. She has had an extremely runny nose/cough and post-nasal drip, wouldn't sleep, reflux, etc. on the last two rounds. If I can gain some reassurance that her kidneys are not at risk, I will begin chelating again, but maybe just do two days on five days on.... TJ, I am curious since I did not do a hair analysis...do you think that the yeast flare while chelating is a confirmation that mercury is a problem? Thanks again, > > > > I think the main points in your mail are when you say that the kids were > > responding well. > > Lab tests can be eroneous at best. Guest guest
ALA doesn't cause yeast, chelation causes yeast. According to Andy it is the impact of chelation on the immune system which makes it harder to maintain a balance. So, in my opinion, yeast flare up while giving ALA would probably indicate mercury. Just the fact that you have issues with yeast indicates mercury. Also, if she reacts badly to any foods indicates mercury. The mercury deranges mineral transport and the bodies ability to produce enzymes, which causes all kinds of problems with diet and a host of other things. Mercury gets in the pineal gland and screws up the natural production of Melatonin, causing sleep problems. My Kids have been sleeping 11-13 hours straight lately after 1.5 years of chelation. We saw some pretty good results physically after about 6 months. Keep up the good fight. Don't stop chelating. The rest is just to make the child feel better while chelating.
