I used ALA for my kids, and never had them tested for the presence of metals. I had done sufficient research to learn that if the person has food intolerances, there is a very good chance there is mercury present. Guest guest
Goodness, ALA is cheap in the health food store. You waste all that money for testing. But NO CHELATING WITH AMALGAMS IN YOUR MOUTH!!! Yes, everyone has mercury, lead and other metals in their system. We are exposed to it on a daily basis. For my son, it was the *lack* of mercury on his hair test that was the red flag. We should all be excreting it constantly. Bloodwork will only show recent exposure. It doesn't have any diagnostic value in many of our cases. My advice...spend the $ to get those amalgams out and then buy ALA over the counter. It really is only a few dollars per bottle. Don't start with ALA until a few months after removal. In the meantime, you can use other supps like Vitamin C, antioxidants and EFAs. ALA can do harm in people who are metal toxic. A lot of harm. It crosses the blood-brain barrier. Use it wisely. Good luck. Pam > > I asked my doctor to prescribe ALA (insurance will cover it if he writes a script) to chelate metals. He ordered a lab test, but it needs P.A. *before* insurance will pay. (My doctor's office has not a clue how to do this, or so they say.) So, I wanted to go ahead with ALA (despite fillings in my mouth)<<< Got dental insurance, but no one takes it around here or outside my area. > Other than baseline, because that is not the reason he gave, why would one wait if it was going to be never that they get insurance to pay $270 for tests? (He said everyone has some mercury, lead, etc..., which I am not so sure I believe. And unless the level is high enough, then you do not want to chelate.) Is he crazy or what? What possible *harm* can be done from ALA for a few days? > >
