Guest guest
Hi Marie We have often given our 7 yr old quite thin son a 500mg cap of GABA. Kenny > > Hi > I've recently purchase Puritan Pride Gaba each capsule contains 100mg Gaba, 600 mg insositol & 200mg niacin. How much of a dosage should I give my 12 year old son. He's 69Kg and has been very anxious lately, so much so we've had to keep him home from school a lot lately. > > Thanks > Marie > mum to 12 year old twin boys and 10 year old girl all ASD >
Guest guest
Marie, I wouldn't give this supplement to a child until you research the niacin dosage. Is the content niacin or niacinamide? They are different and niacin can be toxic if taken at too high a dose. The 200 mg of niacin sounds like too much to me for a child, but you should search the archives here for Andy's opinion, which I don't remember off hand. The dosing of both inositol and GABA in your supplements is OK, though maybe too low to be effective for the inositol. My DD takes 2-3 grams of inositol in one shot in the morning and it helps her mood -- not necessarily anxiety, but helping one emotion helps others I find. She has also taken GABA, which can help some with anxiety, but often it needs to be taken a few times/day to be effective. It didn't help my DD much but it doesn't mean that it won't help yours, you would need to try it. I don't think that you can experiment much (or maybe not at all?) with this supplement will help much since the niacin dose may be too high & prevents you from adjusting the dose of the other ingredients. Guest guest
Marie, If you can buy GABA w/o added ingredients.Try GABA by Natural Factors & others. Then you can slowly give more. I don't think it's a good idea to give bigger doses of inosotil & niacin. KathyB > > Hi > I've recently purchase Puritan Pride Gaba each capsule contains 100mg Gaba, 600 mg insositol & 200mg niacin.
