Amino Acids: Better to provide individual Amino Acids or not?

Good morning, all,

Is it better to provide individual amino acid supplementation or just provide a

whey protein and let the body breakdown the protein into individual amino acids?

Particularly, I was concerned if there are certain amino acid ratios to be

balanced. For example, my son has Herpes Zoster virus. In addition to Valtrex,

there are recommendations to add lysine. However, I was also informed to watch

the Lysine to Arginine ratio.

1. Is there a website that list the recommended ratios of a particular amino

acid to another amino acid?

2. If I supplement a particular amino acid (let say lysine), could that reduce

the availability of another amino acid?

Or is it better to provide something like a whey protein and let the body break

the protein down into the required amino acids?

Any recommendations for protein? Whey protein?

Sorry if my questions are basic. Just don't want to create an issue while

trying to resolve an issue.'

Thanks in advance.

Jerry
