Guest guest
Some type of anti-oxidants are very important. C and E are the most common. Maybe you could look into other Anti-Oxidants. His liquid multi does have C and E in it, but giving C by itself caused rage. Same with E. I'm also having difficulty dosing the liquid 4x/day due to school hours. Does anyone know what to try, or a website that shows the co-factors for different vitamins? I'm worried because I understand C & E are important during chelation so I wanted to add them on top of the liquid. Or, maybe I should just give a double dose of the liquid 3x/day? It's Nature's Answer Liquid Multiple Vitamins (and he tolerates it, so I'm not changing it!) I give minerals in capsule form as well. 143 lbs, 4 months in, 25mg ALA every 3 hrs by the clock, around the clock, every other weekend. Guest guest
Is he allergic to corn or soy? Many C supplements are corn based and most E supplements contain soy. Since C and E are vital to life and our bodies require them, intolerance is most often related to the source it came from or some other additive in the supplement. You don't need to give E four times a day. Oil soluble vitamins can be given once a day. (A, E, D) C should be given 3-4 times a day. ie: breakfast, afterschool, dinner and bed time. There is no cofactor for C, our bodies can't make C. You have to get it from food or supplement. The fact that he tolerates it in his multi drops, tells me it's the individual forms that are the problem. If you double his liquid multi you need to be sure it will not cause you to be giving too much of one of the other vitamins that are in it. And if you did double it, 600mg of C a day isn't really enough for his size. Nor is 120 IU of E. Consider finding allergen free C and E. Someone on the list should be able to point you to soy free E. Or search the old posts. Same for corn free vitamin C. Jan > > My boy cannot tolerate Vitamins C or E. His liquid multi does have C and E in it, but giving C by itself caused rage. Same with E. Guest guest
We cant do high amounts of Vit C(anything beyond 250 mg causes problems) so we use grapeseed extract, olive leaf, CoQ10, and artichoke extract, along with Vit E. Guest guest
We use a sago palm derived vit C by Twin Lab http://www.vitacost.com/Twinlab-Allergy-C. We have not seen the melt downs w this. > > > > My boy cannot tolerate Vitamins C or E. His liquid multi does have C and E in it, but giving C by itself caused rage. Same with E. Try something like TwinLabs Allergy C, which is made from sago palm. Vitamin C required carnitine here for proper absorption. You can try giving it with carnitine, see if that helps. Last, vitamin C really increased yeast here, so it might be a yeast issue. Most vitamin E is made from soy. If your child has issues with soy, you might need to try something without soy. You might just keep the multi you are using for now. Dana

Guest guest
synthetic E doesn't really do anything. You might try to find the soy free E. Here are a few brands. http://www.drrons.com/unique-e-soy-free-vitamin-e.htm Nature's Life Pure E: http://www.evitamins.com/product.asp?pid=13173 Carlsons Alpha Gems I think are soy free too. > > My boy cannot tolerate Vitamins C or E. Guest guest
I'd try non corn/soy sources. Nutricology has a casava vitamin C powder. Calson's has a natural d-alpha E form from sunflower seeds rather than soy. Tressie > > My boy cannot tolerate Vitamins C or E.
