Guest guest
I think " every other post " is a bit of an exageration, but I get your point. I have been here a couple of years, and there have always been crazy people and spam. That's what the delete button is for. -I keep and eye out for people genuinely asking for help that is along the lines of what I have done to help my boys, and share my experience about what has worked for our family. -I save most of Andy's posts and refer to them. -I try to warn people about blatant mis-information that would harm their children. - I ignore the crazies as long as they are not advocating harmful protocols like IV chelation. Remember that when you are in the mud, wresting with a pig, the pig likes it. Guest guest
No doubt TK, no doubt at all. We were here long before it got this bad. It's a shame. I do hope those who are here to find real help do find it. There is good information to be found int he old posts, the files and with the people who still try to offer help. Everyone should avoid clicking the links that are posted as they can send you to webpages that will infect your computers. Ugh... How low do you have to get to spam an autism list.... > > > > > > If you like Hot wings, Buffalo wings, or Teriyaki style chicken > wings...there > > > are Gluten-Free options for all of them! Guest guest
TJ and , Thank you for posting this and being blunt yet polite about it. I have spent a great deal of time on Pecanbread as a newbie and then a moderator and it is a wonderful group of people. When I came here recently in preparation for chelating my entire family I was surprised and dismayed and kind of amused to see all the drama that goes on here. Is this what I have to expect from my family when we start chelating? Will we become combative, disconnected and see a decline in our reading comprehension? I don't mean to sound flip, I am, unfortunately, being very serious. In posting a serious question earlier I received a couple of useful responses, an email from someone who helped me considerably but didn't want to post on the list, a side conversation with someone else having nothing to do with my question or me and a very long post about all the things I should or shouldn't do...that had nothing whatsoever to do with what I actually had said in my post. Not to mention the spam. Pecanbread has virtually no spam appearing in the messages...the moderators delete it. Doesn't that go on here? Are there moderators? Is it worth it to be here or will my time be better spent elsewhere? With three young boys on SCD, 2 of them in therapies, 2 of them in sports, one in theater classes and then school for 2 as well...I don't have the patience for this stuff. The two of you seem forthright, please level with me...am I going to get answers I can depend on here? If anyone is offended by this I am sorry, though not surprised. It seems to be modus operandi in this neck of the virtual woods. The quip about the pigs in mud is apt, to say the least. lol Chrissy > > > > > > If you like Hot wings, Buffalo wings, or Teriyaki style chicken > wings...there > > > are Gluten-Free options for all of them! Guest guest
, This isn't what you will see in your family with chelation. This type of activity and behaviors are usually seen in toxic individuals who are not chelating and who are allowed to run amok on a list. Contrary....you will see improved mood and behavior and comprehension/spelling etc. The adult chelation list does not look like this. It is moderated though. This list is as far as I know is unmoderated. I can certainly understand your concern. It concerns me that parents who come here to be serious and find information, can't. > > > > > > > > If you like Hot wings, Buffalo wings, or Teriyaki style chicken > > wings...there > > > > are Gluten-Free options for all of them! Guest guest
Aren't we moderating where we are responding so openly and honestly as we are? Hello? to Moderation by Communication? (That I have so much respect for moderation otherwise. Not. Have me if you will or not, Thereof) I contend that alternative is political and could (as is often tends to be the case?) is worse than people who do things mostly for money. Money/business often is willing to encompass the disabled/different where they prove to be valuable at something, where I find politics to be stiflingly patronizing and stereotyping if not dishonest, which I find can be as limiting as anything.. . No. I don't plan on having the last word on this. If chelation promised to turn me into a political figure though (of such criteria?) I'd stop now. Don't tempt me? Maybe you'd like to be the government in that respect, what you'd do if you were in control? .. . I can more than imagine, now I find anything political enough to censure/censor me in all the ways politics if not abuse can do so is not the truly objective force I aspire to, be warned? You don't seem to like what I represent I don't figure my speaking your language will make me get along with you any better because I was already there and done that, and I did not find that *good enough,* (satisfying enough?) so here I am with hopes for something better, (if not with something better as far as we are concerned?) but if not here, I will go where I go of as much as I've become, be sure, and dealing with abuse will be at the *top* of my agenda, as it has been for some time now I suggest you put it at the top of yours, whoever Glavic > > > > > > > > > > If you like Hot wings, Buffalo wings, or Teriyaki style chicken > > > wings...there > > > > > are Gluten-Free options for all of them! Guest guest
Actually I've only noticed things getting a bit crazy the past few weeks. Before that this seemed like a really safe place to ask questions. Regarding the toxic people, I guess I felt sorry and wanted to try to help so I asked a question. However I can see there's no logic there so I'm thinking " planned ignoring " . I hope the people who are regulars here will continue. We've only finished round #8 and we have a long way to go. We will need your support moving forward and I'm sure we will hit rough patches. This is the very first time in 13 years that we've had hope and we need your support. Guest guest
Hi, I am brand new here and I noticed somebody mentioned IV chelation. Are you saying that it is best to use oral instead of intravenous? I do not have any autistic children however I have a degree in Psychology and autism is of very special interest to me. I know many parents who have autistic children and I would like to know more about chelation so that I can tell them about it. Guest guest
I have found plenty just using the search button here and on www.onibasu.com. Perhaps I take for granted my paralegal background and ability to research quickly and easily. Here is how I use the list. If I have a specific question, I will first think if I can word my search so that I can get results I want. For example, I have searched " kicking " . When I didn't find many posts on problematic kicking, I posted a question. You can find my posts by doing the search " kicking " or " elizabeth kicking " . If my question is quite specific, I will just ask it on a couple of my lists and then check the replies. I take the key words of the symptoms and key words from the replies and search in other places on the internet. I look for studies and articles on it. Sometimes I decide to wait it out. Sometimes I decide I should do something about it. At least I feel I have a good amount of knowledge on which to base my decision. I used to be a member of the TACA group. I am not anymore because I had a falling out with the moderator over something stupid. The TACA group had some excellent information on dietary intervention and interventions with high ARI ratings. www.autism.com (Autism Research Institute Parent Ratings of Treatments). I am still good friends with on of the main " brains " of the TACA group and she is one that I run questions by when I am doing my research of something. I have found that the more opinions I get, the better. Sometimes they are so equally opposite, that I decide against doing anything. At least you know. So in conclusion, don't read every single post that comes along here, just use the board as a source of knowledge, past and present - for YOUR benefit. Guest guest
----- Original Message ----- From: By Definition There are always limitations to free expression e.g. can't yell fire in a theatre, unless there is one. And if you read the group rules, there are limits as to how someone can act (freely express) on this board. We come together for a purpose, to help sick children get better. Truth, justice and the American way will just have to be handled by another power or board for the time being. Wait, you're not Superman are you? I wouldn't want to get on HIS bad side. Guest guest
You're just talking about the danger of experimentation for our selves. It doesn't change anything, right? Sometimes experimentation takes us to you and what you're about or talking about and sometimes it takes us to me and what I'm talking about and sometimes it takes us somewhere else, that it doesn't always take us to understanding more? (that that isn't the good thing?) which is what I'm primarily about, and no, I still don't figure it's worth waking up to chelate in the middle of the night? Why don't you do a survey on that with y/our membership here to see what you've got right in that respect? Where people scream fire where there isn't one they shouldn't be taken so seriously for doing as much, that they are anymore? .. . I don't think your old idea is taking me anywhere I'm going or want to go? .. . Rules of Communication? Really? Where'd you get that idea? Not from me, be sure, that you really understand what communication is? Work on that and I'm sure you'll understand how to deal with as much.. . that I need you/us otherwise, or that I should? Whatever. I read you're upset and I don't really want to make you further upset, for whatever you might do in that respect, that I'm not trying to help you with our chelation efforts and children, but I Feel I Am You seem to as well, in your own way Best wishes, Thereof, and not so much otherwise Glavic > > > > > > > > > > > > If you like Hot wings, Buffalo wings, or Teriyaki style chicken > > > > wings...there > > > > > > are Gluten-Free options for all of them! Guest guest
We lost a few really good people when they got sucked down into the mud and didn't realize it. I am fortunate enough to have learned this lesson before joining this group. I will bounce a couple of times with a person, then I realize they just want to argue, and then I disengage. These folks leave after a couple weeks at the most. I think they are just bored and need some drama in their life. The folks that genuinely need help, are really want to help, tend to stick around. You are right in that this list, largely unmoderated, has always had crazies, spam and salesmonsters. What's changed is the proportion. There used to be a core block of good posts and a few smatterings of the nutso posts. The balance is shifting. There is value in an unmoderated board, free expression allows for the generation of new ideas. However, there seems to be no attempt to protect people from the spamming and ramblings and salespeople, which is clearly against the group rules. I do wonder how many people like there are that think about chelating their children and come on the board and think we are a bunch of loons, because that is how any normal person would perceive the situation. And who would believe you could get help here? Keep doing what you do, TJ. [ ] Re: Chicken Wings / Butternut Squash Soup Yea, what is up with this list? Guest guest
Thanks to those of you that are sane and helpful I have figured out where to go to ask my questions and so forth. To the poster about researching first...yeah, I do that but there is something about talking it out with others that I find REALLY helpful. It is a personality quirk, perhaps. So, I do both but often ask first. It helps me, also, to know what I am searching for when I do the research. I hope this group can end up with a capable moderator and get back on track but I am outta here. Chelating is too complex and too important to us to mess around...it is imperative to get the most comprehensive advice I can. I am definitely not being convinced NOT to chelate because of this weird list, but I bet others are. I am more stubborn than most, frankly. I wish you all well and hope to see those of you that make sense and aren't spammers on the other list I am going to. Guest guest
Maybe someone has suggested the " Recovery From Autism " group to you? It is a smaller moderated group that discusses Cutler protocol. I think it would fit your preferences.
