We start Friday at 4 PM when son gets home from school. His last dose is at 7AM

Monday before he goes to school.

Most who work or whose kids are in school chelate from Friday after school until

Mon morning. Depends on what works with your family's schedule.

What about another round, does it start again on Friday afternoon? I understand

you get one round (of 3 days) each week? Is it correct.

Thanks a lot for your reply.

Just one more question. Does chelation with DMSA suppositories work the same

way, 3 days on and 11 days off. I have read that suppositories are given only

once in the evening for 3 days? Is that true?

Many Thanks,

Ruta

Ive never used supositories, so others can answer this better. I believe the

timing and dosing would still be the same as if you were giving it orally.

Every 4 hrs for @72 hrs and 1/8 to 1/2 mg per lb.

No, that's not true. The protocol you are describing, the " once a day " is

dangerous and harmful.

Please read about the Andy Cutler protocol in the files section.

Suppositories are not recommended for a variety of reasons. Dosing schedule,

regardless of route, needs to be based on the half-life of the chelator, which

for DMSA is every 4 hours day and night for at least 3 days on and as many off.

Many Thanks. That makes sense. It is exactly what I have been thinking. I guess

the best option is DMSA pills. However, my boy still can't swallow pills, would

that be ok if i keep mixing DMSA in his pear puree?

Thanks, I will have a look. I have ordered AC books, I hope to find many answers

there.

I am so new to chelation and terrified to harm my child.

But what about urine metal challenge test, I want to use one DMSA suppository

just to see how much metals are coming out. Would that one suppository be ok,

just for this test sake???

Ruta,

I was also SO scared to chelate. After the first round, I was kicking myself

for not starting earlier. Start with the low dose (1/4 mg per lb is what I did)

and give it every 4 hours. It is more common to see nothing, or positives,

rather than negatives if done this way... not regression.

Don't bother with the challenge tests. We all have mercury in our body from

daily environmental exposure. Anyone, Autism or not, will excrete mercury/lead

if given a chelator and asked to pee in a cup. It won't tell you anything

important and the odds of metal redistribution leading to some type of

regression is high with a challenge test. Plus, it is just a snapshot in time.

My son *never* showed much of anything coming out on the random urine tests but

has continued to work his way off the spectrum.

Instead of seeing lines on a piece of paper showing mercury and lead, I saw

overnight potty training, loss of sensory problems, conversational language,

etc. That is what you are looking for.

Take care. Enjoy the books. This is not as hard as it looks.

That is OK. The taste/smell isn't great. I would mix it up dose by dose and

not ahead of time, but that isn't hard. If/when you add in ALA, I found mixing

it in food tricky. ALA is kind of shard-like and led to some coughing jags.

Work on the pill swallowing. It opened up our WORLD!

Hi Pam,

Thanks for encouragement. It was much needed! I just have this gut feeling how

my son will blossom if I do proper chelation.

Could you please also advise which brand is the best to use for DMSA chelation.

I will have to buy this product online.

Pam,

I will take your advice.

What was your trick that helped your kid with teaching swallowing pills?

Here are ideas from my site

http://www.danasview.net/capsules.htm

When my kids swallowed capsules, things were MUCH easier around here. It ranks

up there with potty training, in my experience.

Good luck!

Honestly, it happened so easily for me. I just gave him the smallest gel cap I

could find (it was a wild Oil of Oregano capsule) and asked him to swallow it.

He quickly moved on to larger pills.

My son was 6. At age 4, when I started chelation, he was a big chewer. His

first instinct was to chew anything put in his mouth, and I was unable to get

him to swallow pills. I'll admit I didn't try too hard.

Some people buy Pearls, a probiotic, for pill swallowing teaching because they

are teeny. Popping the pill in and drinking water through a straw instead of

from the glass seems to help.

There websites dedicated to this, I'm sure.

Don't do the challenge test. It can be harmful and the information it provides

is not useful.

The hair test is the best test if you must have a test.

Many people do a ten round trial of chelation and see if they get some results.

I had an MD who prescribed DMSA from Kirkman Labs. Now, I buy from vrp.com.

25 mgs capsules is what I use, but you decide what you want to buy based on how

you are dosing. You can divide the capsules quite easily.
