Is he taking any adrenal support (Adrenal Cortex Extract)? Is he on Choline/Inositol for OCD? Are OCD, stimming, or fears a problem? If we know a little more, we can help you better. Guest guest
This schedule for chelation is just wrong. Sorry. First, it is a crazy low dose to be taking once a day (is this a typo?). Second, you never take DMSA once a day because it leads to massive redistribution of mercury and other heavy metals. This is why you see regression, most likely. You do not need a DAN! doctor to chelate. My guess is you are scared, and think you cannot fix your child on your own. That is just not true. With this DAN! doctor, my fear is things will just get worse. Please reconsider. pam > > I'm new to this board and I am having a rough time with my 5 year old son right now. Guest guest
Pam, Thanks for your input. I meant to say he takes 200 mg (not 2 mg) 3x/week. When I asked my dan about the ac protocol he said there are lots of way to chelate and that he was not going to get into a debate about this. I was uncomfortable with that reply but was overwhelmed with everything and so just accepted it. Guest guest
200 mg is an appropriate dose for a 400-800 lb. person, but even then, not on that dosing schedule. Guest guest
I am doing the AC protool contrary to what my DAN! said. I just didn't tell him I'm doing it differently. I figure he can give me the DMSA and I feel doing AC protocol is much safer than what her doctor suggested. Just thought I'd throw that out there! > > > > > > I'm new to this board and I am having a rough time with my 5 year old son > > right now. Guest guest
I did the same when under the care of one DAN!, but was upfront with the second one (who was OK with it). Now, no DAN!. Guest guest
Well Jani, I have to kick myself too because I did 8 rounds IV Ca-EDTA a year ago....so, we both will have blue buttocks, smurf-like !!! ;-) I still have not started AC chelation, but want to start in November, meanwhile I am preparing my kid's body (who was so weak and disregulated after 2.5 yrs of diahrrea, he fitted dot by dot in the disaster described by dr A. Wakefield after MMR shots) and learning through this parent board and Andy's Amalgam illness book. I am keeping a schematic wall to signal most important aspects and bring me understanding because l have soooo many things in my mind ....(Like those you see in a crime movie, when a cop is putting clues together to catch the criminal). I am glad my answer coincides with what other experienced parents responded, means my wall is useful! Maybe we in this group could condense the basics in a nice color printed poster and distribute it among all DANs before they make more mistakes!!! Let us know how it goes with your first rounds. Guest guest
Some (not all) DAN doctor's probably wouldn't promote AC chelation - not enough $$ in it. > > > > I'm new to this board and I am having a rough time with my 5 year old son > right now. Guest guest
Hi Jani, lots of people use GSE but many have trouble with it too. Some other things people use for yeast with success are: Candex, Candidaise, biotin, olive leaf extract, coconut oil (put on food, in baked goods, etc.), oil of oregano. You could try any of those or a combination. Be gentle on the liver now, he has been on an improper protocol. My suggestion is to use food-based vitamins if you can afford them, at least until he is doing better. I use: Amla for Vit C, Megafoods Vit B complex, Megafoods Selenium/Vit E, cod liver oil for Vit A and D, liquid ionic Zinc (Kornax brand). My son had to recover from an awful high dose DMSA challenge as well, and it was not fun. It is also important you try to be gentle on his gut by giving foods that are easily digested. Cooked vegetables, homemade rice milk, coconut kefir, cultured vegetables. Try to avoid salicylates and phenolic foods if possible till his gut is a little better. Use digestive enzymes or maybe some Betaine HCl to help him digest meats or for when you go out to restaurants if you do. He is going to need a lot of magnesium. Smoothies are a great way to get coconut kefir (live probiotics), calcium, and magnesium in him. I use a banana, 1/2 to 1 cup frozen blueberries, and some water, then I add the other stuff and blend it. You can blend in some of the other vitamins too. I hope that gives you some ideas for recovery from this. I am sorry your son is going through this, it's awful. Stick around and we will take care of you Liz > > > > I'm new to this board and I am having a rough time with my 5 year old son > right now. Guest guest
Doesn't help to dwell on the past, just to learn from it. The best thing you can do to undo the damage is chelate with a safe, appropriate protocol (AC). Guest guest
Liz, Thank you so much for all you help and your wonderful suggestions - it really helped and gave me some hope again. I know it takes time to type that all out so thank you for your time in doing that. I will look into where to buy those food based vitamins and get going on that. I will try the smoothie idea too. THANK YOU AGAIN. I feel very taken care offJ ~jani.
