Guest guest
even in summer, when my wrists or fingers flare I wear " arthritis gloves " flesh colored or black things that don't cover my fingers - for comfort. Then when my hands are cold, I have found glives really hurt my fingers - the fingers do not want to be moved around enough to go into the fingers of the gloves, and sometimes seams on the fingers of the gloves hurt my fingers even more, so I wear mittens more than gloves. (pre RA I never wore either) I am also finding socks are a problem, (my feet are big, so I search extra large socks) - it often hurts my fingers to struggle with the socks and it also hurts my toes. This winter I found soft stretchy chenille gloves and socks and have been wearing them- they do not seem to be as difficult to put on, and they feel warm, to me. Last winter I tried many different pairs of those gloves that have no tips, with a flap that converts them to mittens? but those felt tight on the fingers and cold air came thru the mitten flap. My vote is soft stretchy chenille mittens. - In , " Vikki Wingfield " <VWAvon@c...> wrote: > With all this cold, cold weather... Does anyone know what kind of gloves are best? Guest guest
Hi Vikki, My vote for hand warmth is definitely MITTENS. They allow air to circulate, and you can wiggle your fingers around inside them. I have some " Thinsulate " ones that are quite warm, plus some fleece ones. I couldn't find fleece mittens with a non-skid palm, so I sewed some on my fleece ones for driving. As for socks, I have some of the really soft chenille ones. They are expensive, but well worth it. I also found some double-walled socks last year, but I can't remember where I got them--maybe Wal-Mart? They're warm, but then I have to wear bigger shoes! I also wear socks to bed at night and have found that I sleep better (I put some moisturizing cream on my feet first--double benefit!) Sending warm thoughts your way from cold, snowy Indiana, Judi

Guest guest
Dear Kathy- I use them myself. Love em. A must have. I will send you a link in your email for the order I placed. They are edema compression gloves 3/4 finger length in xs, small, med, large, x large. I use the small size and I am about 110 pds. I have finger size between 2 and three. These gloves are not craft gloves. They are made for people with arthritis etc. They are $6.10 a glove with low shipping. I cant get along without mine. I use rubber gloves when doing dishes so they dont get wet. They wash and dry like a breeze too. Yours, Deborah

Guest guest
I would like to find some gloves that have open fingers but fingers that go up to the last joint, not the half finger gloves. Does anyone have anything that worked for them? thanks a lot
Guest guest
Hi a. I don't know if you are going to find gloves that are longer than the half-finger ones. May I suggest purchasing regular gloves and then cutting off the tips to where you want them covered? That way you would get a custom fit. Hope this helps.........Doreen --- In , " patandpaula " <patandpaula@...> wrote: > > I would like to find some gloves that have open fingers but fingers that go up to the last joint, not the half finger gloves. Guest guest
YES and YES I have the best gloves ever. They are like children's gloves , or rather like they would fit a child , but they stretch to adult size. They come in all different colors. You have to cut the fingers off. I do, and thats not a problem. You can find them at Walmart (where isn't there one of those stores? ) I wear them because I have nodules on the backs of my " getting more deformed every day " hands. I just get tired of them sticking out there and people can't help it, but their eyes are drawn to them - right after they look - they wish they wouldn't have--too late they already seen my deformity. Ahh and the brutal honesty of children... " What are those big bumps on your hands.? " Mothers -- shh don't be impolite- . I of course return with the " It's ok children are naturally curious, I tell them it's Rheumatoid Arthritis and blah blah blah. One impetuous child said .. " ohhhh your just old then eh ? " . The poor mother was visibly embarrassed but I got my " Laugh-A-day "  outta that honest little ... ...... ahem.....kids retort, and so thats why I wear those firm comfy fitting gloves. Guest guest
dd, Just google or look up " Arthritis gloves " on the internet and you will find a lot of places that sell them. You can also get them at Walgreens, Walmart, etc. from California > > In the " I should have paid more attention " category, someone previously > mentioned gloves that make arthritic hands feel better. Guest guest
My husband found mine at a truck stop. There was one pair of mens small and one pair of mens medium left. I kept the small pair. They are trucker's driving gloves. Spandex back with leather bottoms (palm side) for the fingers and palms. They have a velcro fastener at the wrist. I like them better than bicycle gloves because the fingers are longer- covering all but the end finger joint. They are snug, the palms are padded for comfort, and don't make my hands sweat excessively. I don't have a brand name but mine came from a Pilot station that has automotive fuel on one side of the building and diesel for semis on the other. If you can find a Pilot station just ask where the truckers gloves are. Mine cost about $18 and have lasted 2 years so far.
