Guest guest
Thanks everyone for all of your help and suggestions. I have passed on all of the info and contacts sent to me to the Mom and she is very grateful for the support. Very scary for the family to have this happen so far away from home and their support network. The only update I have is that her son has had the breathing tube removed, but still not out of the woods as of the last contact. Still, they have a lot more to work with now, compared to yesterday. Thanks again, Jen > > A friend is in Orlando Florida on vacation from Canada and her small son. He was rushed to the hospital today having seizures. They were visiting universal studios when they noticed he was unresponsive and quite pale. Mom tried to feed him some GFCF chocolate and he wouldn't respond and was drooling, then " fell asleep " . When they got him to the hospital the Dr's said he was seizing so they gave him an anticonvulsant. They did a CAT scan, blood work and even a spinal puncture and haven't found anything. They are helping him to breath with a tube and they said he's had 2- 3 minute seizures and 1 about 40 seconds...until last I have heard - 8pm pacific. He has IV Ativan, fentalyn, mivf? ..that's what Mom saw written in the machines. They have scheduled MRI and EEG for early in the morning tomorrow. He was playing in a water park when this happened...he was under a water spout for some 10-15 min...when they noticed he was standing too still.... > The family is quite far from home and understandably very scared. > > Does anyone know a conpetent Dr. or Neuro in the area of Orlando? > Are the meds being given safe for her autistic son? > Any help, advice or info would be greatly appreciated. > If you email me, I can pass it along to the Mom. > > > Thanks, > > Jen >
