Guest guest
You could try some hydrogen peroxide in the ears to see if it helps. From: [mailto: ] On Behalf Of Jingwen Jin Sent: Saturday, February 27, 2010 10:02 AM Subject: [ ] ear infection - what would you use? Hi, My son seems to have an infection in his right ear. Yesterday afternoon I took him to a pediatrician after seeing some yellowish liquid coming out of his ear. The ped said it's probably just ear wax that got out due to bath water. She said ear infection should show creamy, whitish liquid. Now this morning I saw something like old blood clot inside his ear. Could ear infection bleed? (My son said his right ear aches.) I'll try not to use any antibiotics even if it's an ear infection. I checked Dr. Shaw's book; he said that the following could be effective to treat ear infections: 1) ear drops containing benzocaine and a decongestant to stop the pain (this one must be just a pain reliever) - What exact products can we use? 2) echinacea I found the following products online http://www.oregonswildharvest.com/owh/browse/children's_herbs but I guess I have to obtain one such product local. Would whole food stores the only places to sell such products? (We only have one such store in town.) Please help give your opinion. waiting... Thanks very much, Jingwen
Guest guest
If there's bleeding it may be that the ear drum ruptured or there is an external ( " swimmers " ) ear. Have the ear rechecked before putting ANY drops in it. Guest guest
It might be from yeast. This was excellent for us: Herbs for Kids, Willow/Garlic Ear Oil. I bought it at iherb.com. Works in minutes. Mimoza On Sat, Feb 27, 2010 at 12:02 PM, Jingwen Jin <jjw.autism@...> wrote: > > > Hi, > > My son seems to have an infection in his right ear. Guest guest
I agree with the doc. I ruptured my eardrum one time and it bled. Hurt like hell. I had got some water in it so I thought the warm air from a hair dryer would sooth it. It did temporarily, but then the pressure built up behind the eardrum and ruptured it. I'd suggest having it looked at too. ________________________________ From: " Rydland, M.D. " <drrydland@...> Sent: Sat, February 27, 2010 12:19:31 PM Subject: Re: [ ] ear infection - what would you use? Guest guest
I have a little general information here: http://healthgazelle.com/earache.shtml Please note that peroxide in the ear is a bad idea if there is current or recent bleeding as it will melt the clots/scab and can restart the bleeding/prevent it from clotting. I have found calcium supplements help stop bleeding. Calcium is necessary to start the cascade of events which leads to clotting. Recently, I have been mostly treating my ear problems with olive leaf extract and oil of oregano taken orally. I also pour distilled water over q-tips and use them to clean out my ears and nose (4 q-tips, one for each ear and one for each nostril, then flush them down the toilet to the get any infectious matter out of the house promptly). It's gentle and surprisingly effectively. I rarely irrigate my sinuses anymore since I began doing this. Sinus irrigation is a standard treatment for my genetic disorder. I did sinus irrigation at least twice a day for years. Now I do this two or more times a day. It's less hassle and I'm generally feeling a lot better. I will also note that my current ear problems come from using the phone at work. If your son is ever on the phone or has anything else he puts to his ears (like headphones), it would be a good idea to clean them or even replace them. Peroxide, distilled water, and/or diet tonic water on a paper towel are pretty effective non-toxic disinfectants. Good luck with this. Guest guest
Hi Michele and everybody, Thanks very much for your kind replies. So last night I went to a whole food store and purchased a couple of products that are supposed to aid ear infection: traumeel (homeopathic), sovereign silver (for oral and external use - recommended by the store staff), and hydrogen peroxide (for cleaning) (they did not give me garlic oil). People have warned me of not using H2O2 if bleeding; so I'll remember this. The good thing is it does not appear to be a real ear infection. The dark " red " color that I saw looks more dark brown when I used a flash light that allowed me to see more clearly. My son did appear to be sick (slept almost 3 days & nights), but hope there's not an infection going on. Anyway, thank you all so much for your generous suggestions. Guest guest
Hello Jinwen, Do you have the blood subtype Apolipoprotein E4 ? Were you tested as mercury sensible via Kinesiology or Acupuncture ? Are you a patient, who was exposed to mercury recently so that Hahnemann could write the homeopathic picture including otitis media ? If all the above, how can you consider taking Traumeel? It contains mercurius solubilis D6, that means it contains mercury . If you consider taking mercurius solubilis as a homeopathic remedy, the dilution should be higher than D30. Think about it. Guest guest
Some thoughts: Dried blood can look more brown than red (or even black). Of course, brown gunk could also be ear wax. If it is heavy ear wax, the peroxide might help clear it out and help reduce the odds of coming down with a genuine infection. Using a cotton swab to try to get a sample of the brown stuff might make it more clear to you what exactly is in there. Silver treatments are something most people on this list would not recommend. I have asked around and looked around for a silver chelation protocol because it is a fairly popular alternative treatment in the cystic fibrosis community. I have been unable to find any useful information in that regard. My best understanding is that silver interacts with mercury and makes mercury poisoning worse. I have heard that EDTA supposedly is a chelator for silver, but no reliable protocol to go along with it. I can't recall, but it seems to me that EDTA is not recommended/is recommended against on this list. (Someone please feel free to chime in to confirm or deny my thought on that.) So I really am not comfortable with the idea of using silver when I don't know of any way to get the stuff out of the body again. If it becomes a problem, I don't know of any solutions. You can also do heat treatments -- a very warm bath, wrap kid up in a blanket and have him watch cartoons/tv for about 15 or 20 minutes. Be very, very sure to make the child understand that if they feel overheated, they can end the bath or wrap part of it at any time. If handled carefully, this is a very safe, non-toxic, effective means to help the body combat infection. Good luck and hope he feels better soon.
