The increase itching and scratching, sounds like an allergic reaction to me.

I've had drug and chemical reactions to " stuff " and the night it's always the

worst and talk about not getting any good sleep. I'd stop everything, even give

Benadryl and see if his poor body settles down. Add one thing back at a time

and see if you can figure it out.

Has he had any allergy testing? Do a very clean diet, go all natural on

cleaning products, detergents, soaps on body. Eat a very bland diet and see if

you can see the difference, like pulling dairy and wheat, add slowly.

[ ] Is this yeast die off (for my husband)?

I started to treat my husband for yeast with Candex and Natren probiotics and

he has some strange symptoms that I don't see when I treat my ASD 4.5 yr old son

when I treat for yeast. He has increased itching and scratching. He always used

to scratch his arms lega and thighs till they bled, but now he's doing it in his

sleep really bad. He says he feels horrible, like he's getting sick. He says he

feels like he has a fever but he doesn't, like headaches, lightheaded, and

weakness. He also says its like he feels every hair on his body?

We started treating him for yeast b/c of the skin itching, but also b/c he's

had bad stomach pains regularly about 2-3x a week for the past 10 years. He also

has very bad toe nail fungus which is also yeast related. He has leaking

amalgams that we are in the process of removing, and we plan to chelate when

we're done removing them and have waited the required time period.

Are these symptoms normal for yeast die off? We haven't had him tested for

yeast, but I feel like all the symptoms I described above should be enough to go

on to justify treating him for yeast. Should I give him activated charcoal to

help with die off? He isn't able to function at work and he has stopped the

treatment as of now.

Thanks for your help,

Shiri

Most probiotics caused problems here, so I would suspect he does not tolerate

those probiotics.

It could be yeast die-off. We aren't GFCF or sugar-free yet, but we are also

treating yeast w/Kyolic Form. 102. My husband's first reaction was an upset

stomach from the amounts of garlic and ginger in the capsule; mine was a

triggered migraine; now, he has perleche which attribute to his yeast; I

buffered my reactions with activated charcoal.

Our child reacted as I did, with a mild headache when I first started him on

Kirkman's Yeast Aid. We're both on activated charcoal. No skin irritations on

the two of us so far -- we both usually react w/eczema when in contact with an

allergen.

Hubby is 'toughing it' out w/no charcoal, but he did tell me that his stools are

different.

Our probiotics is Metagenics; no skin problems with that. I would try Vitamin C

or gingko biloba for your husband's skin itching, if he doesn't have allergies

to either. They both have anti-histamine properties. The gingko has done

wonders for me.

p.s.

The headache(s) and upset stomach were from our initial dose. We've now been

using the Kyolic and Yeast Aid for over a week (+- 10 days), and nothing new or

adverse. On the third day, my husband didn't have any complaints of upset

stomach or gas.

I believe the charcoal helped to keep the headaches for me at bay -- I'm not too

eager to try the Kyolic w/o the charcoal since I hate getting a migraine to

validate the charcoal's benefits.

The skin stuff sounds like a gluten/casein reaction to me--or some severe food

allergy (my DH is sensitive to corn). You could, in addition to what you're

doing, do a total elimination diet and trial new foods one at a time to see

reactions. Usually symptoms totally clear up when you're on the TED part of the

diet (having eliminated all usual and personal suspects totally). It's a kicker

to do, but we all did it as a family and my DH is not usually up for stuff like

that, but I see he avoids dairy and corn now of his own accord, after finding he

was sensitive to it. Natren also has at least dairy--I forget what else, but if

he's sensitive to corn (a lot of people with hidden sensitivities to GMO corn

and then all corn after being sensitized), any dextrose or maltodextrin in

supplements is out. Corn's in so many supplements. Just ideas for you guys to

consider. Interesting to hear that Dana's family didn't tolerate probiotics. My

son's the same--they none of them work for him, just cause more problems. He's

ex military, if I remember right, your DH? Totally likely he's developed

gluten/corn/casein sensitivity to an extreme level, with all the shots they

gave.

best wishes,

Fiona
