Guest guest
My son is currently screaming from stomach pain. I know he is very constipated. I gave him oxy powder yesterday. I think he is in alot of pain. Is there anything I can or should be doing to help him feel better. Thanks

Guest guest
Sorry for your poor child! When mine had severe constipation and couldn't get his stool test done we used this from the drugstore counter: mikroklist: 450mg Natriumcitrat, 45mg Natriumlauryssulforacetat, 3125mg Sorbitol, 5mg Sorbinsaure, 625mg Glycerol, Water 5ml. Usually it takes one mikroklist for an adult to have BM within 15minutes, but for our son it took 4 mikroklists and 45minutes. His gut was clogged with stool mass because of constipation. But, it worked. I am sure that they have something similar in the US drug stores. This is a emergency remedy, not for regular use.  ________________________________ From: Liz <elizabethsoliday@...> Sent: Thu, January 13, 2011 3:55:27 PM Subject: [ ] Re: Constipation help asap  Give him a bunch of Vitamin C. Guest guest
I would call emergency because abdominal pain is the reason for that. ________________________________ From: Liz <elizabethsoliday@...> Sent: Thu, January 13, 2011 3:55:27 PM Subject: [ ] Re: Constipation help asap  Give him a bunch of Vitamin C. Guest guest
My son suffered form severe, debilitating abdominal pain for years, and we found the medical mainstream of no help. Mainstream endocrinologists were clueless, too. We gave up with MS doctors helping him. One night as he was crying bloody murder for over three hours the doctor said, " Just let him scream; he'll exhaust himself eventually and pass out. " We helped our son with the gf/cf/sf diet at least 1000 mg of vitamin c a day divided into two to four doses during the day magnesium --160 mg if he was going okay and 360 mg a day divided by two if he wasn't, The other thing that helped tremendously is Kirkman's EFA powder. It is flaxseed meal and essential fatty acids. He gets a heaping tsp twice a day. If we forget to give this protocol, he will get constipated again. This happened last week and we wound up in emergency. Again, they were of no help. They put us in the chapel as he was screaming and crying and carrying on, and then they forgot about us. We walked out in disgusts after three and a half hours. Then my husband remembered he had not been giving the EFA. DUH! I had to get onto him for that. Guest guest
If he has not yet gone to the bathroom, as a lost resort, give him laxatives. Going to the emergency room can be a waist of time, as I learned a few months ago, when I took my son in with abdominal pain. Sat in the hospital for ten hours and the poor kid, had nothing to drink and no help to poop. There was a protocol suggested by someone, but I can't remember if it was here on this list. In an emergency the important thing is to clean him out. I remember it consisted of laxatives for 4 hours every half hour. It sounds extreme, but it took that long after the 10 hours in the hospital. Does anyone remember? It included Miralax, but I can't remember the others....... On Fri, Jan 14, 2011 at 9:00 AM, Heidi Dillon <heidi.dillon@...>wrote: > > > My son has had horrible, GI too. Guest guest
Severe constipation is very painful. I think of it like a clogged drain. Enemas can clear things up because they unplug the clog at the bottom, near the drainage hole, so the whole mess can come out. Putting laxatives at the beginning of the pipe doesn't always clear the clog at the other end, and sometimes it makes things worse for my boy. The first time someone told me to try an enema I said " it will never happen " . When things got real bad I finally bought some - they are cheap and disposable. I had to pretty much throw my boy down on the bed and go for it, and yes, I got injured because he was in a rage. It worked, though. After that first time he lets me do it. I know it sounds yucky but constipation causes head banging for my boy and he can get brain damage from that. I tried them on and off for a while and then I used them every day for a week and it cleared the problem, he started going on his own every night after dinner. I still use a very healthy dose of magnesium and I use Senna daily. But the enemas were what got him regular. Sorry I know it sounds yucky buy my boy suffered needlessly for years before I tried that. Hope it helps someone. Deb > > > > > > > My son has had horrible, GI too. Guest guest
Sometimes the clog is at the middle and not the end, as was the case with my son. If that's the case an edema will not work. Just saying..... On Fri, Jan 14, 2011 at 9:50 PM, mrboysmom <misterboysmom@...>wrote: > > > Severe constipation is very painful. Guest guest
Some things to try: - sit in a warm bath to relax the body and bowels, this could be messy, but worth it to relax and release - abdomenal massage, use clockwise strokes in the direction of the digestive track from below the ribcage to above the pubic area - use a Qtip with olive oil or petroleum jelly, and run along the opening of the anus to stimulate it into contracting - suppositories if the blockage is close enough to the opening, to soften the stool These worked well for both of my kids when they were painfully constipated. To stay regular: - consuming psyllium husk in water or mixed into food - consuming organic extra virgin coconut oil - aloe vera juice For a child, I would recommend .25 of a teaspoon of either each day, for the first week, and then twice a day for the second week each day. As an adult, when I have psyllium, I usually take a heaping tablespoonful in the morning and it helps me throughout the day, but my preference is the coconut oil, a tablespoon a day. The aloe vera works well too, but I have to brace myself for the taste of it. If your son is allergic to tree nuts, then best to check first with an allergist on any reactions from the coconut oil before using. My son has a mild reaction to cashews, but he takes the coconut oil with no problems, but everyone is different. > > My son is currently screaming from stomach pain. I know he is very constipated. Guest guest
Epsom salts (magnesium) in the warm bath would be better than a plain water bath. > > - sit in a warm bath to relax the body and bowels, this could be messy, but worth it to relax and release
Guest guest
Yes, and I don't know how to tell where the clog is. It's all very difficult and painful for our kids. That's why we all try so many things until we find what works. Good thing that we have this message board so we can exchange ideas. I learn so much from the rest of you. Guest guest
Hey Deb, could you email me off list so that I can share some of your chelation experiences with a family I am working with? If not, that is okay too. Liz esoliday@... > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > My son has had horrible, GI too. Guest guest
Those juices are full of sugar. Be prepared for the side effects of all that sugar. Guest guest
After 7 years of enemas I'm really digging Aerobic Life Mag07-- it's working better than anything that we have tried. Clean, functional pipes through and through are very important. A few years ago my little one had a really tough time pooping....holding onto the kitchen counter, beat red face, tears and sweat. It was really blond so I sent it into DDD along with a hair test...poop test showed thallium off the charts (if i remember correctly) but hair test showed barium 750x over the limit....looks like all those barium GI studies hung around longer than anyone could have imagined. Now that we got the poop moving we can move out some other crap. lisa
