Guest guest
Absolutely not. That's not enough to do anything to you(but I wouldn't eat fifty of them, either<g>). Remember, alcohol causes cirrhosis of the liver, and methotrexate affects the liver(sometimes), so the interaction or just using both would double the risk, but the tiny bit in a cookie isn't going to do anything. ----- Original Message ----- From: snowdrift52003 Rheumatoid Arthritis Sent: Saturday, December 03, 2005 6:24 PM Subject: Rum ball cookie I could use some reassurance. Last night I was at a Christmas party and without thinking, I took a good-sized bite of a "rumball" cookie and swallowed it. The taste of alcohol was strong. I freaked a little because last night I also needed to take my MTX. Do you think there's any chance of harm from the small amount of alcohol in that cookie bite?(I've been meticulous about avoiding alcohol.)Sierra
Guest guest
I have also avoided alcohol since starting Methotrexate but I have heard from many others who have a drink or two a week with their doctor's permission. It is very unlikely that your liver enzymes went out of the normal range, and even if they did it is most likely that they will soon come back into the normal range without any damage to you. If you are concerned about it I suggest a call to your doctor on Monday to get reassurance. God bless. ----- Original Message ----- From: snowdrift52003 Rheumatoid Arthritis Sent: Saturday, December 03, 2005 3:24 PM Subject: Rum ball cookie I could use some reassurance. Guest guest
Thanks, Harold. Now that a full day has passed without incident I'm calm again.
