Progress report round 48

I thought I would write in on Pete's progress as I have a free minute and he's

doing so well.

Pete started the AC protocol 10/08. At that time he was medium-functioning. Now

he is considered very high-functioning. At a special therapy camp he went to

last week, they couldn't find a match for him for floortime therapy because he

was the highest functioning kid there. They had to make him the helper/teacher

kid. That is coming a long way from a kid who couldn't follow instructions to

play a game, to one who is helping other kids learn the rules.

Pete has always been verbal, but at one time is was all echolalia and scripting.

Echolalia went away somewhere between 10-20 rounds. He still scripts a fair

amount - using words and phrases he knows to try to express himself - but it is

combined with original thought and new, appropriate phrases he has learned.

Pete used to hate the playground. Now he will grab a friend's hand and race

toward the jungle gym, laughing. He has a couple of little friends and he would

rather have a playdate with them than play with us. (This alone is payoff

enough.)

One new, remarkable change in Pete is he has started asking follow-up questions.

So he will ask, " where were you? " (which blew our minds the first time he asked

that alone) and I will say, " at the grocery store " and he will now ask, " what

did you get? " So I find myself having little chatty conversations with him,

which is quite amazing.

OK, my free minute is up.

Thanks Maggie! We are making good progress too. My boy went from moderate

autism to PDD-NOS. We just had him evaluated again for school. This was after 1

year of chelation, 48-50 rounds. We missed a few weeks du to illness. We'll see

where he's at in another year.

Thanks again for your update.
