Guest guest
Thank you all for your response. I did not know that I could get dmsa without a prescription. I have been reading everything so that I know exactly what to do, but I have some questions. Do most people begin with dmsa and then later add ALA? How long do most people chelate for? How do you know if it's working? Will the child show signs of improvement? I'm not sure what dosage I should start with. Can someone help with this? My son is 10 yrs old and is about 69 pounds. Thank you, > > > > Can someone recommend a doctor who will prescribe dmsa for my 10 year old son? But we did start with DMSA. > How long do most people chelate for? How do you know if it's working? Will the child show signs of improvement? > Andy says 100 rounds for kids is an estimate. How long that takes depends on your frequency - some parents and kids can manage every weekend. I can't so we are moving slowly, maybe 1-2 rounds a month. > I'm not sure what dosage I should start with. Can someone help with this? My son is 10 yrs old and is about 69 pounds. 1/8-1/4mg per pound of body weight. So you could start with 8-10 mgs/dose, every 4 hours (or more frequently if you are seeing bad behavior before the next dose is due). If you are using 25mg caps, then you can split 3 ways for around 8mg doses or open two caps and split it 5 ways for 10mg ones. With DMSA we were fine with this dosing, but with ALA I needed to start very low due to a prior mistake with IV chelation which shifted a lot of mercury in the places ALA accesses. Jo, 27 rounds - 10yo, 21 rounds -6yo, 24 rounds -2yo, 11 rounds > > > > > > > > > Can someone recommend a doctor who will prescribe dmsa for my 10 year old son?
