OT--great living, working situation for our son!

Hey all,

I'm sorry to use this list, but it's one of the largest and I need to know where

to find a good situation for our beloved son. He wants to move out--he's 29 and

understandably needs more independence and an adult life--but he has the hard

combo of high-functioning thinking with a body that hides this. (He has mild CP

along with the autism.) His intelligence comes out through his typing, not his

speech, which is primarily echolalic or much below his level of

thinking/writing.

The situations around us are ICF-MR facilities; our son has spent his life with

" normal " people and doesn't really feel comfortable there.

Is there any wonderful place for someone like him to thrive and grow? Anywhere

that doesn't have years and years of waiting lists? Abysmal situations for

adults? Please--I'm trying not to panic over here!
