Hi Pam,

I do not have the book. I have read most of his writings from online and this

group. Dr. Amy is who suggested dmsa to me.

EDTA has not been used in a long time. several weeks, from starting dmsa.

I just thought due to using it prior, for over a year, that I was depleted.

If you aren't doing so yet, try Celtic sea salt. It has a mix of minerals and

also helps with leaky gut. This did wonders for my two sons tendency towards

hypotonia, which I am guessing is what you mean by " muscle weakness " .

Good luck with this.

I am not familiar with that one but I am skeptical that it provides the same

benefit. Celtic sea salt is about 84% sodium chloride ( " salt " ) and the other

16% is a mix of 80-some-odd micronutrients found naturally in sea water. I have

read some things that emphasize that modern humans developed in coastal areas

and the claims are generally that eating sea food provided important fats that

supported development of our modern brains. I think the sea salt aspect of it

gets largely overlooked. I am of the opinion that coastal areas are so much

more expensive because the salty sea air is an optimal environment for humans --

the niche our ancestors developed in and the niche we do best in. Supposedly,

all life on this planet originated in the sea.

In way, aside from batty ideas about why this is important, I have tried a

number of different salts and nothing does for me what Celtic does. McCormick

French Grey is a close second. My oldest son describes it as " like stale

Celtic " . In an emergency (when we are running out), it is an acceptable

substitute. Good quality salt like Kosher salt or " canning and pickling " salt

are an improvement over regular table salt, if only because they don't contain

crap like anti-caking agents (yum, give me more of that in my food -- NOT) and I

found that using them was better for me than using table salt. But they did not

have the profound healing effect that a good quality, high brine sea salt had.

If you haven't tried Celtic sea salt, you should consider doing so and see if it

does anything different for you from what you are currently using.

Peace and good luck with this.

I looove the Real Salt. Had no idea it was something I " needed " till I really

paid attention to how much I ate and how I loved it. As far as I know, and this

is only from recall, it's v similar to celtic sea salt, with one big

difference--it's from an ancient seabed long buried (ie not exposed to modern

sea pollutants). It's multicolored, like celtic seasalt. I think the Real Salt

is from an ancient seabed dug up in Utah, as far as I remember. I have to warn

people when I give them sauerkraut that the little dark bits in it are salt. I

totally believe the sea air/sea salt are essential human nutrients. I think

that's why mineral waters (the real ones like pellegrino or from a mineral spa

like Saratoga, which we visit en route to traveling) are so beneficial for

pregnant and breastfeeding women. We used to fill up bottles and bottles and

bring them home and again, I'd make sauerkraut with them and take a glassful a

day. Totally crave that fresh mineral water. I have a stash of bottles in a huge

garbage bag that I throw in the car when we're gonna make that trip. Baptized my

son in that water. In summer, we all jump under the spring fountain.

best wishes,

Fiona
