Guest guest
Gatoraide was the last resort more or less. I wont be doing it again, and for the most part i adhere to a whole foods diet. For some time i wasnt sure if it was my blood sugar or indeed electrolytes. untill my labs came back. I didnt realize untill i recently dug up posts that you can indeed supplement with minerals on the days you chelate with dmsa. i didnt realize this. I am wondering the specifiics on this. like timing, etc..for i am taking dmsa every 4 hours. Thank you, Misty [ ] Re: dmsa and potassium Why not take supplements instead of something like Gatorade? Taking potassium supplements will not interfere with chelation. Do not megadose this supplement, though. Guest guest
Thanks Pam. My doctor had been giving me EDTA for so long. It was always testing, for my lead levels are high. I got into trouble bc i wasnt remineralizing, and I feel i was in a deficit before i began dmsa. I am also a swimmer and so i am really needing to replace my stores. That is comforting to know i can take minerals an hour after dmsa. It also adds up about chelation and the whole mineral theory. I have always felt the body needs minerals in order to enzamatically detoxify. I am taking BT alkaline from php , which has the proper ratio of potassium, magnesium, calcium and chloride. also 12 cell salts at 6x Thank you, Misty [ ] Re: dmsa and potassium Misty, Hopefully, as you restore proper mineral transport, this low potassium will cease to be an issue. I typically take my minerals apart from DMSA by an hour or so. I don't even think that is necessary (but it gives me peace of mind). Minerals are basically being given to aid the body to help make up for common deficits, and not to make up for what is removed via chelation (which is minimal). Try taking them on-round and see if you feel better. An OTC potassium supplement or potassium containing salts? Guest guest
My DAN has told us not to take chelate-mate during the on days. " You don't want to use your chelating agent pulling out the fresh good minerals you just put it. You end up wasting the minerals and the chelating agent. So, we don't give the minerals of the days you are chelating. " Thoughts??? Guest guest
Thanks Pam. My metals and essential elements are skewed in the t - total wrong direction. Dr. Klinghardt suggested chelation right away, due to the improper balance. I am hoping with this protocol i will be able to re establish a long lasting mineral balance for i have tried everything! I do feel toxicity causes us to be so low on many essential elements / minerals in the body and the only way outis the way through. its just a balance when youare in a weakened state. I like what Andy suggested! Treat the person not the lab tests. In my exp the cookie cutter approach dosnt always work...for we are each very unique. Thank you for your explanantions. [ ] Re: dmsa and potassium Common misconception by DAN! doctors. In Andy's book (Amalgam Illness) he says it has been proven via direct measurement of blood levels and by mass balance calculations that DMSA and DMPS do not significantly alter the body's inventory of 'non toxic' materials... minerals. It might not be the case if you do IV chelation or mass doses, I do not know. ALA actually increases the body's stores of zinc and copper. By the way, EDTA DOES pull minerals. If your DAN! is using EDTA, then that is probably an accurate recommendation. Using EDTA for mercury toxicity isn't wise. April, perhaps you can ask your DAN! why he/she believes DMSA/DMPS/ALA binds to minerals to the degree that you cannot take them while chelating. Data? Plus, if they feel the chelator is binding to minerals as well as metals, that would argue FOR taking minerals while on a round, in my opinion (just not at the same time as you take the chelator). My guess is this: if you do fine without taking minerals while chelating then that is probably OK. If you do not feel well on round, then perhaps trying to add some minerals might make you feel better and it will not interfere with chelating the heavy metals. Those who are mercury toxic will need extra minerals to support the bad effects mercury is having on their body (that is not the same as saying DMSA pulls minerals). My opinion, based on what I've read. Guest guest
Thanks Pam for your input. I particularly appreciate your logic; it means I have more reading and thinking to do April [ ] Re: dmsa and potassium Common misconception by DAN! doctors. Guest guest
Pam, do you use a multi mineral on your child? if so, can you tell us what brand? thanks, Misty [ ] Re: dmsa and potassium Common misconception by DAN! doctors.
