Guest guest
Hello, You can chelate with the caps as long as there isn't amalgam fillings under the caps. (And, of course, no amalgam fillings on the other teeth.) Guest guest
My hubby had three caps. We found a mercury-free dentist who worked very hard at saving the caps when he opened them up. One of the three had amalgam inside. One also broke and had to be completely replaced, but the others were just glued back shut. Barb [ ] caps over teeth and mercury? Guest guest
My son has stainless steel caps on his teeth also.We do chelation with them. As long as they are just caps or crowns as they call them you are ok to start chelation Kara ________________________________ From: jromkema <jromkema@...> Sent: Mon, February 28, 2011 2:50:38 PM Subject: Re: [ ] caps over teeth and mercury? Guest guest
Our 5 yo has steel caps. I made doubly sure when he had them put on that there was to be no amalgam under those caps. Had to repeat it a few times -- twice the dental office staff and hospital had incorrectly written amalgam on his paperwork. Double check with your dentist that there is no amalgam whatsoever under your son's caps before you start chelating. The only concern I had after the steel caps were in was nickel and chromium from the steel. Since we haven't started chelation yet, I'm reading up on the chelation of nickel and chromium, along with amalgam. The caps will be in his mouth for he next 2-4 years depending on how fast his perms come in and what kind of shape they're in. Guest guest
We're still planning on chelating. For us, we can't ignore that there have been positive results and health benefits from chelation despite the stainless steel being present. Once our son outgrows the caps, we're going to test again at that point to see if there are any more possible metal problems, but that won't be for a number of years since these are his baby teeth. Since your son is older and these are his perm teeth, you may consider doing a hair test once every year or two to see if nickel is a concern, and if doing that will give you peace of mind. I lean toward doubting that nickel or chromium will be an issue, but you would know best for your situation. Testing gets so expensive... If you didn't know, coupon code " AUT " on DDI's website will give you a discount for hair element tests. $19 off, I believe. I'm not affiliated with them. > > > Thank you all for the responses, i have contact the hospital and they told me that he has stainless steel and no amalgam . now i dont know about chromium and nickel, should i worry about. is stainles steel safe to go and start the chetaling? > thanks
Guest guest
Oops, Amina. I'm on another 'board and mistakenly thought you were another parent I was writing to who had an older son with the same concerns about dental work and steel caps. My opinions are still the same though...too many benefits with chelation to ignore.
